Cable was part of Estlink power cable route which is on the news right now/lately.
Total of 1 power cable and 4 data cables were affected as of right now.

Dont worry, your ship and the cargo is valuable enough to cover the accident costs. We already seized it. :P
OVH campaign goes a bit too far
Hey, I'm all for shaming Hetzner, but I'm still unable to completely move out of there as of now.
Ruzzia on rampage. Cutting power cables and internet.
Media says, all works as usual.
how do they know where the cable is cut, do they have a system to figure it out or do they just have to scour the entire length?
In this case they can use loopback from the attached data cables to determine close to exact location.
But suppose there are power cables only, they know when the power was lost, and where the cable is laid on the seafloor, so they can just check marinetraffic or some similar platform for ships directly over the cable area during the time it went off. Naturally they start the search from where a ship is seen above the cable line.
Talks about the process:
TLDW: Math + Physics + a lot of time
They can locate the cut (or possibly multiple cuts), but it's not always easy to figure out where the ends of the cable ended up after the cut (plus the cable itself can move).
That literally answered my question perfectly. Thank you.
Someone complained last time traffic was shitrouted.
I see nothing, ping stable, gonna get some Nordic gaming going.
After Black Friday, Hetzner is going next level on the bandwidth cuts...
Shit... I knew it wasn't a good idea to dig so deep in the garden on the 3rd day of Christmas...
I though that it was your security dog..
