Windows for ARM64 Server

Hello, Is possible install Windows for ARM64 Server?

Comments

  • Debian

  • Yes, it is possible, but keep in mind that even if Microsoft claims apps are working, some may not be compatible with the ARM64 version. Also, check if your provider allows you to upload custom ISOs. If you need any further help, let us know.

  • How possible is why for do it? a tutorial or step by step

Next, Next, Next, Next, Yes, Login, Next, Next.

This is how every Windows install works, right?

Yes, you can find related scripts on GitHub that allow you to automatically convert a Linux system to Windows using a script. However, it's important to check whether the vendor permits such actions.

    1. install debian or other linux you prefer
    2. install docker
    3. see tutorial on https://github.com/dockur/windows-arm/
    4. relax with your girlfriend till the installation done.

  • Is this just a troll post? Ask if it's possible but then link to the iso? Check if the provider of your arm64 server allows for you to upload/use a custom iso. Though, if you're asking for a step by step guide, I don't think using the arm64 version of windows will be good for you. I say that because drivers cannot be emulated and most programs for windows is only for x86_64 which will require emulation and impact performance/etc... I say this from owning/running a windows dev kit 2023.

I haven't tried the docker container @aulyaryan mentioned but that will probably be your best bet.

  • Did someone buy a netcup vps then realise there's no ISO option for windows install on the dashboard :D

Haha yeah, same. I didn’t realise how different ARM is (for me anyway) so I cancelled it and got a refund :)

  • If you can’t figure this out yourself then you should return whatever you bought and buy an amd64 VPS that explicitly supports windows.
