Something that's been on my mind: is installing an OS really considered idling? Or do true idlers leave the server completely bare empty?
All the party cooled off this year even before Black Friday. Any hopes of getting any deals like KS-A or KS-LE-1 on the real Black Friday?
After having KS-A you can hang up the boots.
Its not bare empty, my KS-LE-B had a single VM running on it, now its 2.
People got upset when I posted htop's.

I did the math and decided that I could replace ALL of my servers with 5 KS-A. I needed 4 at BHS and 1 in GRA. I could cut my monthly hosting cost down from $130/m to roughly $50 including ips.
After two weeks had past from placing the orders it became clear that the KS-A deliveries would not happen - so I grabbed a medium tier Rise LE 3 and retired my 2022 Rise Game-2 for the entirety of my BHS hosting needs. Like normal for me when the prior BF commitment expires.
As soon as I was migrating the final VM and shutting my prior server of 2 years down for the last time a single KS-A was delivered. All of my meticulous planning and rationalization went out the window. I installed Proxmox on the KS-A as quickly as a I could, determined to give it a job. And…. It’s been idling ever since. Most likely scenario it hosts our yearly modded Minecraft server starting mid December. After that — I’ll keep throwing random short term projects on it as needed as sort of a scratch server. There will be lots of idling though.

Ah, but you see. We had 7vms on 300/300 for the past couple of years. In this new world we would have 7vms spread across 4 100/100. It would be an upgrade in some ways. The lack of raid1 however…. That’s hard to swallow. OVH interventions are fast though, even of their cheapest lines. Gotta love em.
Is the KS-A a former OVH Game server ?
Yes
A lot of people complain that OVH's KS range is made of very old hardware, but I don't see how that's a bad thing. First, it's better than throwing electronics in the garbage and contributing to pollution. Secondly, this is how OVH can offer options for a variety of budgets and needs.
