cheap email-friendly vps

I am looking for something cheap that is not on any blacklist to use for my personal email(never ever used for spam). What can I find that comes with a good reputation?

ipv4 + ipv6 support (+PTR, obviously)
not on any blacklists (including large subnet blacklists, I don't want any more headaches with that)
I'm in NA, but I wouldn't be against something in Europe
Good uptime/SLA
I don't really care in terms of specs, because I'm planning to run this primarily as an email server, but I would prefer more storage if possible because I don't like deleting things. :)

Please no "don't host email in 2024!!11!!!1!" comments, I know first-hand the headaches involved. I am sure that I want to do this.

    What type of email?

  • I've hosted my personal emails on OVH VPS for ~ 4 years, so far no problem. They have Port 25 opened by default and I don't have problem landing mails in G-Mail or Outlook inboxes.

Completely personal. Nothing high-volume or anything like that.

Well, if its not spam or bulk, feel free to check my signature. We do block p25 by default, but I can open it for you. :)

//Edit: I saw you require IPv6 as well. We can do that only for US location, at the moment.

    Greetings,

As long as there is no restricted case in your transactions (including abuse and blacklist cases), we can help you at Turkey/Istanbul location.

Unfortunately, even trying to find out if Reverse DNS is fully supported is a complete pain as it's usually not mentioned in any description and when you ask about it, you often get ignored.

BTW, InceptionHosting worked quite well for me, but they are closing down.

I am using one from RN(racknerd), so far no issues, i only use it for incoming though. For the outgoing relying on MailChannels or Mail Baby might be better.

  • I set up Mox mailserver on the cheap MassiveGRID offer, interestingly it has clean IP but no IPv6 at the moment. Not super stable too. From the blacklist monitors I have I wouldn't use Netcup, OVH, Hostslick as they have abusers in their space. Famesystems looks good and so far 100% uptime in the short time I monitor them (5 weeks). They offer PTR on both IPv4 and IPv6.

In the earlier MXroute days I relied on IP reputation of Exoscale and I wasn't disappointed. It's been a while since then but I haven't seen them gain any popularity in the years that followed, and increased popularity is what tends to snowball into an IP reputation issue, so worth a check. The real IP reputation issues aren't found in blacklist checkers though, so remember that. They're not going to show you that you're blocked by Yahoo, AT&T, Verizon, Outlook, etc. Also don't forget to completely ignore UCEPROTECT L3, don't freak out about it just pretend it's not there. It ain't hurting anybody.
