Once upon a time, in a vast and golden land of minarets and markets, there lived a bold and clever sailor named Sinbad. During one of his many adventures, Sinbad found himself shipwrecked on a treacherous island ruled by a powerful Sultan. The Sultan, a man of great wisdom and honor, had been trapped by a fierce band of pirates. With his courage and cunning, Sinbad risked his life to free the Sultan, defeating the pirates and earning the ruler’s eternal gratitude.
“My savior,” said the Sultan, his eyes filled with admiration, “you have shown bravery and loyalty beyond measure. I am in your debt. To honor you, I shall grant you the greatest gift in my kingdom. I have 100 wives, each as radiant as the moonlight. You may choose the most beautiful among them to be your own.”
Sinbad bowed deeply, humbled by the Sultan’s offer, but then the ruler raised his hand and added, “There is one condition. My wives will be presented to you one by one. You must decide immediately whether to choose or pass, for once a woman leaves, she will not return. Choose wisely, for if you pass them all, the last one will be yours.”
Sinbad, ever the strategist, pondered the Sultan’s challenge. How could he ensure he would find the most beautiful wife? He sat beneath a date palm that swayed in the warm breeze, listening to the hum of the market and the distant call to prayer. Then, as though whispered by the stars themselves, an idea came to him.
“I shall be patient,” Sinbad thought. “I will observe the first 37 wives, learning the beauty of this land. I will not choose any of them, no matter how enchanting. Instead, I will remember the most beautiful among them as my benchmark.”
“After the 37th wife has been presented,” he continued, “I will choose the first woman who is more beautiful than any I have seen before. If none surpass her, then I shall honor the Sultan’s condition and accept the last wife.”
And so, the day of the presentation came. The first wife entered, her eyes sparkling like the desert sun, but Sinbad only smiled and nodded respectfully. The second glided into the room, her beauty breathtaking, yet Sinbad let her pass. The Sultan watched with curiosity as Sinbad repeated this with each of the first 37 wives, carefully studying and committing to memory the most beautiful among them.
When the 38th wife appeared, her elegance surpassed all others Sinbad had seen. Her presence was like the fragrance of jasmine on a still night. Without hesitation, Sinbad rose to his feet and declared, “You are the one I choose.”
The Sultan, impressed by Sinbad’s wisdom and patience, nodded approvingly. “You are not only brave but also thoughtful, Sinbad. May you and your bride be blessed with happiness and prosperity.”
Sinbad and his bride lived in joy, proving that the greatest rewards often come to those who balance patience with boldness. And so, their tale became one of legend, told beneath the stars in the Sultan’s court for generations to come.
