HostHatch Amsterdam VPS to UK - Congestion? Packet loss?
I'm completely out of my depth with an issue I've been experiencing for a few weeks now.
I have a HostHatch storage VPS in NL that I've been using for Plex for 2 years now without any issues.
Several weeks ago I began experiencing constant buffering when trying to stream (direct play) higher bitrate movies.
I am on a 400/400 wired connection at home. Running an iperf3 test to my VPS I am getting variable bitrates, usually around 70 Mbps - 120 Mbps, but sometimes dropping to as low as 20 - 30 Mbps.
If I run speedtest-cli or iperf3 to any of my other VPS (hosted in UK and US) I get a consistent 300-350 mbps.
If I run speedtest-cli on the NL VPS I get speeds upwards of 4 Gbps. It only seems to be a problem with the route between my NL VPS and my home connection (UK).
Any suggestions on how I can proceed with troubleshooting would be much appreciated as I'm at a complete loss.
