Host Koala Doube Billing
I had an account with Host Koala since 6/2021. It was just a small account I used for some testing and development and it was fine, no real issues and I actually prefer the Direct Access control panel they use. I no longer need it and canceled a little over a month ago. I checked PayPal and they are still billing me. I started digging and realized they have been double billing me every month since the beginning. Now I know it sounds absurd I didn't notice but it's $5/mo (or was supposed to be) and I just really ignored it, never noticing the extra bill. I thought it was just the double email notices I get on so many other services. Anyway, has anyone else experienced this? They seem like a decent low end host, though I never really had real traffic and multiple sites, so it's not a fair test. I've put in a ticket so I will respond here when/if it is dealt with. Still, it concerns me.

PayPal subscription? Usually the responsibility lies on customers to enable or disable it. Not sure how much they can help with past payments. If they really care they may offer store credit.
Good luck
Odd, I've never been asked to create my own PayPal subscription, they do it automatically I assume. I've been asked once to make sure it had been deleted, but in this case there isn't one there. Regardless of my neglect in detecting it, they still have $205 of my money for which no services were rendered. They don't get to keep it just because I didn't notice their hand in my pocket until now
If they bill you without any active service, so I believe you can get your money back.
Well there is good news. They promptly refunded as much as PayPal would allow, and gave me the option of store credit or PayPal direct payment of the rest. I chose the latter and expect I will receive that today. They said a double bill was set up originally for some reason and if I ever looked at my PayPal account I would have noticed and corrected it early
So I would say that is an overall positive for Host Koala, which matches my experience with them overall. If you need a basic host and not a ton of space, I would definitely recommend them. After waiting a month for ImpactVPS to respond to my cancel request, I was just a little worried this would be a repeat - pleasantly surprised!
Thanks for your responses.
Actually ... the farthest you can go back in time for a PayPal dispute, or a credit card charge back is 6 months. Generally, you're expected to review your accounts and bring up discrepancies within 60 days, so ...
As I said above, they offered to send the rest by direct PayPal payment. I received the payment today, so all is well.
Watch out from them dropbears is the lesson.

Glad to see that they took care of you. I had no doubts that they would.
