UK data centre to upload external drive
Hi I'm looking for someone in UK who can upload around 1TB of data to the cloud for me. (I'd like to eventually get it onto google drive but can discuss other cloud provision) Rather than spend a dozen days uploading on my connection. I'd like to just post the drive and ideally get it back. Budget, I can spend £50-£75 on this.

What type of drive is it? What is the data ?
It's an external usb drive and it is my personal data mainly backups,games and documents. I don't think there is any video/media. Definitely nothing pirated,all legitimately owned or personally created.
Do you have an existing cloud you would like the drive uploading to ?
Is it encrypted?

I would like it going on to my gdrive. I'm subscribed to multcloud which I can use ftp to transfer it from server if it can't be put on directly. I'm still putting some files on to it but I was hoping to encrypt it after use but before sending if that makes sense. I think encrypted files can still b copied without the encryption key.

I could put this on a Linux VPS for you and allow you to sync it to your Google drive and arrange a tracked shipping back of the drive.
If you never find a solution and your internet is that bad
Im happy to offer my free internet (50mbit upload, would take 2 days to upload) and a windows or linux vm. Install whatever you want.

How slow is your connection? 1TB is not huge amount of data
Not sure what local options you have but have you considered spending a day at a coffee shop/library/university/etc and just mooch off their WiFi? But I suppose time is money.

9Mbits a second.on speed test. I could have got the calculations wrong but I made it to be taking a week or more.
I will check out the speed at local coffee shop and library. If I can do it in hours that could work. No uni and I wouldn't have access anyway. Thanks for the idea.
In the time you spent looking for someone then shipping it I’m sure you could’ve used a public connection or even at work or even mobile data to transfer all if not the majority of this? Seems an odd request but I hope you find someone
I didn't think a public connection would be fast enough. I'll test it out. I don't have that much data on my phone. Work net is slower than mine. I work for a non profit and we have consumer not buisiness internet. 4g upload is even slower than mine at 4-5 Mbps from what I read.

There’s a million options you could do and clearly speed isn’t essential here as it’ll take days to find someone and arrange shipping then several days for it to be delivered
Upload speed is. It's a remote area. Even if I can buy data as a one off rather than monthly it's not fast enough. My phone doesn't support 5g which I think I'd need to get it done in a day or two. I don't have family in the area with decent internet speed. I'll ask if anyone can let me use their internet but I suspect most don't know how fast it is. I could post it to my family in Northamptonshire who do have the speed but they don't have the skills to upload it. I dont really get invites there so can't just leech off their WiFi.
How would they upload it to my gdrive wouldn't they have to see my password or upload it to a VPS or something for me to the. Sync. Or am I overcomplicating this?
Speed isn't essential as I can wait days for someone to ship it but I can't sit for days in a cafe(it will close) and I can't have my laptop tied up for days. I need to move it. Maybe if I could borrow another laptop off someone for a few days then use that to upload, I could do it from home,have the 2nd laptop just sitting there uploading.
I'm interested in other options, there may well be something I haven't thought of that will work.
Considering your budget you could buy a second hand 5g phone (look for ones in very poor condition) and an unlimited data plan and still have some money left over
Wouldn't I have to pay monthly and be locked into a contract? I don't mind paying a one off but I don't want to pay it every month for two years.

Ok that might be the way to go then. I can use that for the initial upload then for regular backups just do differential on my home internet overnight if need be.
Ah eBay filter said 5g. Do you or anyone else know a good source for cheap used 5g phones?
