    Hello,
I am sorry but we must charge you vat as per our country vat taxation regulations:
Business to Consumer (B2C) Transactions: If the client is a private individual or a business not registered for VAT, Romanian VAT may still apply. According to EU VAT rules, digital services sold to non-business customers outside the EU are generally subject to VAT in the country where the supplier is established. Therefore, Romanian VAT would typically be charged.

I'm sorry but this is not true for digital services.

The place of supply rules is the cornerstone of VAT on digital products. These rules determine the country where businesses should charge VAT and where it should be paid. For B2C (business-to-consumer) transactions, the place of supply is generally the consumer location. On the other hand, for B2B (business-to-business) transactions, the place of supply is typically the location of the supplier. However, there are some important exceptions and conditions to consider:
    B2C Transactions

If the customer is located within the EU, VAT must be charged at the rate applicable in the customer's country.
If the customer is located outside the EU, no VAT is applied.

    Second source (EU):

From 1 January 2015, telecommunications, broadcasting and electronically supplied services
are always taxed in the country where the customer belongs1 – regardless of whether the
customer is a business or a consumer. This document aims to give a simple explanation of the
cases that fall under these provisions, especially having in mind electronically supplied
services by micro businesses based in the EU.

    Source: https://taxation-customs.ec.europa.eu/system/files/2016-11/information_microbusinesses_euvat_2015_en.pdf

It's pretty simple and the rules are unified across the EU.

Not really, as its same issue in Italy as well.. Anyways I am doing how my accountant is requesting, all prices are advertised with VAT included, no one is forcing anyone to take servers from us. Prices are 21.42€/Year including VAT

We feel obligated to order one, as the provider has been sponsoring our Bucharest node since 2023.
Technically it's a DediPath refugee offer but they are listed as a sponsor of ndn6 network.
That node has been very stable since we received it.

We picked Vilnius location, as we don't have anything in that corner of Europe yet.
    Invoice #8631

    VAT is unfortunate.
There are two PayPal options, called "PayPal" and "PayPal Basic" respectively.
No matter which one we pick, it creates a PayPal billing agreement in "push" mode i.e. every year PayPal would automatically send payment.
This is quite problematic as it has caused double payment in the past: when WHMCS sends a payment reminder, we do a manual payment; then the automatic payment is sent as well.
To prevent such mistakes, we had to immediately cancel the billing agreement in PayPal app.
We'd hope the PayPal integration "check out" option shall link to an one-time payment option.

I don't bite because I don't like lotteries. Right now, for instance, it seems I'd get a "Blitzen" for which I have zero use (due to location).

But I wanted to mention that the @Hosteroid VPS I already have (very similar to the offers here) performs well, has been very reliable, and has a high uptime, the disk is decently fast and connectivity is quite good, especially for the low price.

    TL;DR recommended, good deal

    https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/168944/didnt-know-there-are-so-many-attempts-to-sign-in-to-my-vps-through-brute-force

I usually do setup right away. Part of my setup is to disable SSH password authentication.

Be faster than you usually do!

    Thanks a lot!

Machine hacked in the short window between delivery and my manual installation, hence I got the first abuse report in my life, not counting the naughty things I did in high school computer lab.
After I gave the output of journalctl --list-boots suggesting the machine has been reinstalled, the abuse report is closed.
