Need help creating account at hetzner

I'm creating account at hetzner. After confirming my credit card at the final steps, I got the mail rejection immediately. I already mailed Hetzner support for more but don't get any reply. Can anyone give me some suggestion with this ?

Saw discussion on Twitter/X about this and some of them said they had to register using non-free email/using your own domain (not Gmail, Yahoo, etc).

    YMMV though.

Okay I will try to use my work email. It's strange that they verify my credit card and then they reject without providing further information.

Are you using proxy (vpn) when signing up?

No I'm using my original network to setup (ipx.ac shows me it's a residential IP).

Idk about that, I tried opening an account using my personal domain and my business domain, both got rejected.

  • Hetzner is German, and they'll be intimidated if a sausage is mightier than theirs.
If you have a sausage that is better than their bratwurst, i recommend a cast iron pan with some butter or oil and video the sizzle it makes. Its the worlds best identification system.

Damn, I got accepted. Rejected using gmail, accepted using my own domain. Thanks.

I'm from Indonesia. I was rejected multiple times using gmail, outlook, etc. Using same detail (real), no fake info.

You saved my life. I register using my other work email, my other credit card, same information, same IP and it works :)

I wonder if Hetzner will get mad at you for sharing information on indicators they use to screen their clients

There're many clients in internet sharing this, my comment is got from the previous comment :) Also, they need me to upload my passport to re-verify again, which I think it's more strictly than AWS or Azure that I used before (aws only need me to confirm that I own my card :) ). So, I don't think they will get mad if they have a new legit user that give them money :)

I mean, it is well-known that they don't like to explain why they rejected someone after verification procedures.

Yeah I know, but if the reason is the email, it's like their system is very very strictly with legit customer

I am also from Indonesia. I used to have two accounts that were blocked. I just tried to create an account again using an email with a personal domain and a virtual credit card from Bank Jago. After uploading my ID card photo, my new account was immediately approved by Hetzner

  • If this method has a high probability of successfully registering, might Hetzner make adjustments in this regard?

Thats a stock german sassage image, probably hosted on Hetzner.
The germans wont fall for that fuckery.

I don't think so. They require all of their customer to eKYC, which I think is very enough.

No, they have it in their documentation.

Please, if it is possible, do not use a free email address (meaning an email address account that you do not pay for). And during the registration process, do not use a VPN service. VPNs make it more difficult for our team to verify your identity and assess the risk of fraud.

Initially, it may sound a bit crazy that the email address is a factor, but it is indeed a factor, though not the only factor, but in some cases, it may turn out to be the factor that decides acceptance or non-acceptance

I think that the rationale/logic is that any person and their cat can obtain a free email address without any effort or cost, but if you have an email address from a custom domain, this is a significantly better sign that you've made an investment in terms of effort and cost, which is a sign that you're more serious and reliable

Naturally, there are no guarantees in either direction -- either that you'll be accepted or that you're more serious and reliable -- but it's reasonable to take one's email address as a significant variable in the equation

Yeah it makes senses now. Gladfully, they state that thing into their docs, it's my bad not reading their rules carefully. I just think I can prove my credit card is enough like AWS.

Hi LETers, We also post some information on reddit about this on the unofficial r/hetzner reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/hetzner/comments/1cmhvzs/new_account_problems_read_this_standalone_posts/

If you have you been rejected, and you want one of my colleagues to do a manual check, you can DM me here on LET and give me your customer number of the email address you used to create the account. --Katie

It also tends to give more ways to verify a customer. Somebody with a gmail, you tend to have little way to see what is behind.

Somebody with a custom domain, you gain whois (if not hidden), potential website that are personal (with info on them), and much more.

So in case of somebody using a stolen credit card, there is more ways to trace them, if a police report is filled. A email address is valuable as (one part of) anti-fraud measures.

People wanting to misuse a service are all about staying under the radar with as little as possible ways to trace their origin. But that behavior also makes specific combinations more suspect (and can trigger rejections).
