Looking for Beta Testers (Managed PostgreSQL Service)
Hey all!
I'm looking for alpha/beta testers for a Managed PostgreSQL service I am currently working on. It’s available in 4 regions, runs on EPYC/NVMe hardware and includes features like automated backups (also to your own FTP/S3 buckets) and one-click replica options across four regions.
Before going live, I would like to gather some feedback to make sure everything runs smoothly. Currently you are able to play around with the first two plans at no cost. Please note that this is a very first draft/alpha/beta whatever you want to call it. Please don't be too harsh, lol.
If you're interested, please check out https://www.tuskdb.com/. You can sign up here: https://my.tuskdb.com/auth/sign_up
After signing up you'll be asked for a beta key. Please pick one of those. Currently Beta Keys are limited due to capacity reasons, I will add capacity and update this list as needed.

Already registered. Is this DB sharded?
I'm not receiving the verification email.
I might give it a try if I find the time this week or the next. Where is the location of Eu-central?
@nik I've signed up. Any particular parameters that you might want to have feedback on?
Thanks for the feedback so far. Here are some more beta keys:

What exactly is your use case? Real sharding adds complexity and is currently not available. You can either implement it on the application level or use Read Replicas to scale out Read Request, depending on the use case.
Please DM me your email, I will manually confirm your account. Thanks
Edit:
All locations are currently a mix of Hetzner, OVH and Akamai Connected Cloud (Linode). When creating a database the system will set a default zone (one of the three) and you can add Standby Replicas with the option to do so in another datacenter, in this case it will chose on of the remaining 2.
Edit again. I noticed I didn't even answer your question, lol! That means EU-Central is one of Frankfurt, Limburg, Nürnberg.
What’s the stack for backend service management? Php?
Currently no specific need for sharding, just want to know about the features. Any plan for other database platform like MySQL 8 or MariaDB?
Got it eventually, went to spam as well unfortunately.
Any plans for other database engines like MySQL, MariaDB and Redis?
Also interested to know what tech stack you use.
Thanks for asking. In general of course if you find any bugs or similar would be prio 1, usability feedback, feature suggestions or other blockers for you that prevent me from earning money with it down the road, hehe.
Additionally it would be interesting to know what you guys think in terms of free tier. Should there be a free tier and other plans will be slightly more expensive or simply offering the best possible price without a free tier?
And if there is anything unclear I would like to add it to the FAQ on the website and docs.
Frontend is a Vue SPA with Ruby on Rails in API only mode (and of course Postgres) being the Backend.
Understood. Yes, I have plans to add other DB engines, but lets get the first one on the road first.
Holy crap, ruby
No free plan for testing?
Currently you are able to play around with the first two plans for free.
Is that a positive or negative holy crap? Hehe
That’s more on positive side. Majority root for python or asm, ruby is very rare nowadays. Dying language with schrinking userbase.
Of course this is absolutely wild alegations. But kudos for using ruby!
For javascript: enjoy callback hell.
forever?
No, only during Beta. I am not sure yet if there will be a free tier.
Beta key invalid
i have used free tiers of other similar managed-db services for dev projects, but most of them terminated the free tiers, i guess it was to costly in the long run.
i would be interested in a low cost lower performance tier for DBs that are to big for shared hosts, that often limit to 1GB/db.
Yes, I also tend to skip the free tier and simply offer a very cheap small plan.
Since I can't edit the previous post. Those beta keys still work:

why is the higher tiers capped at 500 Connections?
I am currently working on the option to add connection poolers (with up to 10.000 connections per pooler). Each direct connection is costly in terms of resources this is why they are limited, a pooler solves this. The feature is not there yet, but will be available soon.
Anyways it's a good point and I will raise the default limit for High Performance plans to 997 connections (with 3 being reserved for admin connections)
I would suggest an 1 EUR/USD per month plan instead of a free tier. This way, you keep the user base clean as only customers who are willing to pay something are registered.
I got an error when signing up

Sorry, please try again, it was bad timing, I did some maintenance work
@nik I just visited the website, and it looks neat and well-organized. Great job!
