FSC_INDEX Sensor - What is it?

D9DanD9Dan Member

I've got a Ryzen 7900 running on an ASRock B650D4U-2L2T board and have come across a sensor called "FSC_INDEX" that I haven't come across before.

I've seen it hit temperatures in the mid 90's so whatever it is, it's running hot and Google brings back zero info on it.

Anyone got any ideas?

    Fan Speed Control?

    Hey!

I am not familiar with FSC_INDEX, but, if the BIOS says that the FSC_INDEX sensor has reached 88 degrees, it's probably monitoring a VRM or another power-related part on the motherboard. These components have a tendency to operate at higher temperatures than the CPU itself, particularly during periods of heavy load.

In ASRock motherboards, the FSC_INDEX usually refers to the Fan Speed Control Index, a parameter used for controlling the speed of system fans (e.g., CPU, chassis fans) based on temperature readings. This setting is part of the fan control configuration in the BIOS or UEFI firmware of the motherboard.

The FSC_INDEX allows you to fine-tune the fan behavior by adjusting the fan speed profile (e.g., silent, standard, performance) or by setting custom fan curves. The index might correspond to different sensors (e.g., CPU, system) or fan headers on the motherboard, helping users optimize cooling and noise levels.

To adjust this, you'd typically enter the UEFI BIOS of your ASRock motherboard and find the "Fan Control" or "Hardware Monitoring" section, where FSC_INDEX could be listed as part of the fan control parameters.
