Are providers allowed to do this?

They messaged me three times. Saying "our chat" when I never participated in it nor started it at all.

Are providers allowed to do this?

From a provider's perspective, it happened to me once for a customer to use LiveChat feature with e mail like [email protected] or other provider - I really forgot.
And me reaching out to him to follow up on his livechat message. Turns out that the mailbox owner never wrote us.

So, fault on tawk.to for not validating mails before accepting a chat session. :)

However, if one does receive spam contacts from Cogent, one should repeatedly follow up with them asking if they block spammers on their network and then continually ask them why they haven't yet disabled the IP that they sent you mail from :joy:

  • It's normal to receive offers in your inbox after you post a request thread or similar.

It's not normal for providers to use a 'cold sales' strategy on here.

It's not normal for people to assume someone is still looking seven months later either.

  • Yep, that’s spam. Bannable.

  • Got something similair some days ago ".....you asked us SOME YEARS AGO about paying with crypto....its now possible...."

  • Also got something like this last night. Just looked like a normal post on here, just spamming me.

    exactly? that's what I'm saying 😭

like I definitely wouldn't have minded if I got the offer when I needed it, and I mostly wouldn't have minded the offer 7 months later either, but that's not the case. They have been "following up" multiple times

    According to the LowEndCodex

“It's NOT normal to receive offers in your inbox after you post a request thread or similar.”

No unsolicited PM's offering services, even if you find a thread that suggests they are looking for a specific thing and you can provide it the offer must be put in public view unless the OP specifically requests PM's.
