answer: Hetzner
answer: No
For Hetzner cloud, clouvider, dataforest, netcup
There is no EU alternative for Hetzner dedicated.
Probably not even any US alternative.
Actually, US can surpass Hetzner with its energy and hardware prices. But nobody wants to do that
OVH is probably the closest in terms of UX, automation, and locations
Try @layer7
Hetzner is a terrible provider.
For Dedicated Server I didn't found a better deal yet, for the Cloud/VPS line, I think NetCup delivered me more bang for my buck. Also Avoro is good but for new order they implent data limit so I do not create new servers there and use NetCup instead.
I compare OVH to Contabo not Hetzner, Hetzner is by far more professional.
OVH should ship some of those Maersk containers and try to get a permit to dump them in the US.
And build a nice data center that can go up in flames
and their support in Atlantic
Since 2018 , every 4,5 months had hardware failure , hard disk, network card , ethernet problem is almost every month. Amd network card on intel motherboard.
Yes, it's true, but they fix things in a reasonable time. Unlike Contabo. Ovh have terrible support, but in the end they fix the problems and have an overall acceptable quality. Unlike today's contabo. Hetzner is good, let's hope they don't go the way of contabo recently.
netcup is probably the best option for vps in EU.
They already have datacenters in US. They have one in Hillsboro, OR and one in Vint Hill, VA
If you want cheap dedi in US, some that come to mind is @crunchbits @fiberstate @DataWagon
Their US dcs haven't gone up in flames YET!
yeah they fix things fast provided they diagnose it.
One of many servers that i have with them . I have a server with important data , with some process that i do not want to interrupt.
SMART scan showed hard disk at 13% they said they cannot access the server, ethernet unusable, network card drivers gone in bad sector so network card won't work.
They checked KVM, server not responding.
For last 3 days i am running the same server with backups every 3-4 hour
I don't doubt their intentions but what checks were they doing, server not reachable over KVM in their own datacenter. I doubt their expertise as i have seen lot of blunders from them.
still no one comes close to them.
https://oneprovider.com/ has a good selection of dedis. Including in Europe. But they are only resellers, so your support experience will vary.
AMD doesn't make network cards.
They are unmanaged services. You are responsible for diagnosing the issue yourself. Hetzner is one of the few providers that actually offer to do a hardware diagnostics for easily detectable errors but that requires they boot your system into SystemRescue.
If you have what seems to be hardware errors but cannot determine the cause then Hetzner also happily moves your disks into another system at no cost.
Yeah I don't get the hate, seems like misaligned expectations.
I've had several servers with Hetzner since 2018 or so. My current server I've had for probably 3 or 4 years. Zero issues, literally no downtime that could be blamed on them. They've even made exceptions to their policies for a lowly customer like me spending less than 100 EUR monthly.
A very similar configuration on a "cheap" US provider would cost me over twice the price with capped data.
If you know what you're doing, aren't doing shady stuff and play by hetzner's rules there's nothing like them at the insanely low price point that they provide.
What is a policy exception? I am also very satisfied with Hetzner.
They accepted adding more disks than they normally allow to my server.> @fadedmaple said:
From my experience, Mevspace is pretty good considering their support is email only. They resolved it pretty quickly by replacing it when there was a hardware failure with my dedicated server.
You can try Webnx, in some particular specs they might have better deal than Hetzner.
@MassiveGRID has high availability cloud VPS that supports scaling for ram, cpu, storage. They also have a special offer right now, bringing them below Hetzners pricing, but I'm not sure if a new account like mine should post the link here. Also not sure why they themselves didn't post it here.
Mevspace is probably the closest alternative but it's more expensive, same with OVH. For US providers ReliableSite is pretty good.
Thank you for the mention! Feel free to post the hidden offer link here if it's allowed by the forum rules.
Only OVH can make demping like Hetzner too.
i have clearly missed this hidden offer link, would love to see it posted/PM'd to me
EDIT: nevermind, found it!
