NET: 1G (2-3tb/mo)
DISK: 1-2tb HDD + 16gb SSD

  • I use @layer7 in Europe from Western NC/Eastern TN area for proxmox backup and it works fine. This also stays in your budget if paid yearly and is also in Europe and I get good speeds too https://oneprovider.com/configure/dediconf/2708. Additionally BuyVM in Flordia, Nevada, or NYC would fit your budget -NYC connectivity to Ashburn Virginia is very well and such that I doubt you would ever notice for anything other than something like stock trading. I know none of those are strictly close to Atlanta, Virginia, North Carolina but I have had good speeds to all from Tennessee/Virginia/North Carolina locations.

What about a S3 in Atlanta? for $6/TB no ingress/egress fees.

I wish I could, but Proxmox Backup Server doesnt support S3 to my knowledge.

  • @qps maybe?

This location is in KY, so its probably not going to get as good of speed. I am in Central TN so its closer to Clarksville than Knoxville.

You can attach it directly to proxmox as proxmox base is debian. Then set the dir to the s3 then it will show up in your proxmox.

But I do agree. I wish proxmox would integrate S3 storage into Proxmox or PBS.

It shouldn't matter that much -- you are going to sustain easily more than 100 megabits to any of the locations I mentioned which can handle 2-3TB easily.

    Yes, QuickPacket does KVM VMs.

@owenr said: (good perf to 74.113.97.1)

From our Ashburn location, it goes over HE peering to the destination in about 30ms. You can look at https://lg.iad01.quickpacket.com if you want to run other tests.

The main problem is we don't really do mass storage on our VMs. We can handle the SSD part, but we don't have an easy solution for the HDD storage part.

If you can up your budget a bit, we have a E3-1270v2 server with 16GB RAM in stock that I will do for $30/month including 2x 120GB SSD and 2x 1TB HD. 50TB transfer on 1Gbps port, one IPv4, /64 IPv6. If you're interested in that, let me know by DM.

  • Still havent found exactly what im looking for. Had some spec changes and now im looking for something more in the 6-8tb range and the budget has increased to $25-35/m

  • Maybe HostHatch storage VMs? $9 for 2TB. Only 1 vCPU, but that should hit disk speeds for PBS. Available in CHI & NYC, both not too far away.

Also Contabo Storage VPS. A little more expensive, but SSD-based. Available in Missouri & New York.

Thanks for the recommendation. All VMs come with 20GB (or more depending on the plan) NVMe SSD for the OS. The website is not yet updated with its info.

Just adding this here since the request by the OP also includes 16GB SSD, so we would be a good fit.

@hosthatch would be an amazing solution but they dont provide enough RAM with their plans sadly :(

I have a meeting with QuickPacket today, so we will see how that goes.

  • FazzilFazzil Member

Maybe try @layer7 proxmox backup solution. No need to care about a whole server and works great.

Always happy to work out an extra core/some RAM on our standard plans. Please send me a PM.

@hosthatch has good servers but once you get in to issues and talk with support staff, only God can help you. (I'll advise you to read support related thread here from various customers where you could see the unprofessionalism of the provider).

I'll recommend @host_c here. Their Dyson servers are out of stock at this moment but I am sure something can be worked out.

The good thing is, you can customize many aspects.

I am using 5 TB storage, 2 Core, 2 GB RAM, 5 TB bandwith at this moment ($8 per month)

you can add another 1 TB at $1/tb

1 GB ram at $0.75/GB (IIRC)

    1 Core at $1.5/Core (IIRC)

It's like building blocks. Choose whatever number you required, then look at the budget. If it goes above, then make adjustments. It gives you freedom.

Considering you are not our customer and this is a false review not based on personal experience, and are in fact a customer of some hosts known for actually scamming people out of their money - I cannot say that your words deeply hurt me.

But keep trying, I can see you have nearly made about 20 comments about us (that seems like a big number for someone who actively recommends some scammy hosts on other threads, and have never even used us) :)

I asked OP to look at review of your customers. I don't think it is unfair for you also.

I didn't buy from you only for 1 reason. The mental gymanstics that you show here.

If hosthatch changes their PR guy, it will be a blessing for their customers especially for those who has bought promotional plans.

Now that should be a new LET category. Providers reviewing their customers.

I don't have much to suggest, but you can use this program to make your search for a VPS less difficult.

A PBS server running in a container, which in my year-long experience works just as well as a real PBS service installed using ISO, with very low setup costs.
