If nothing has yet occurred to keep this all running, I am willing to absorb what exists and either give it's death a longer trajectory with excessive notice to customers, or keep it running. However, the former is more likely. If this is acceptable, I can have all of the bills paid by end of day.

few people already gave you suggestions already,
The best thing you can help many people in this situation would be pay for next one month services so people will have more time to move their sites etc.

if you want to keep it long term (i.e. help people who didn't migrate yet)
then people like me who migrated can delete our services so you can pay less, again all you are doing is just charity, unless you want to get into hosting biz.

  • I bought few in 2020 so I got my money's worth, but it really sucks for people who bought it this year and can't get a refund. I feel like those people should be helped first.

    @MikePT

The service was quite stable. How about giving an option to all the lifetime customers to switch to paid plans. I have a lifetime plan and I would be willing to switch to paid plan to keep the service going... food for thought. Just accept that lifetime was not practical and you can no longer honor it and see how many customers are willing to go paid.

@jar if you are going to takeover, consider the same.

@MikePT said: While I appreciate it, I'm a 34 year old adult, and I should be responsible for the mess I create.

The last job I had, I lost it due to my stupidity - losing the job, now MyW and everything because I just can't handle everything financially wise, no source of income.

Hey mate, watch out you mental health! This is a warn sign as everything is falling appart at this time. Everything falling always come up stronger later! Hope you will recover, take care of yourself, one step at a time. Good luck MikePT!

Adding that I'm part of most people here: we still want you around and I'll also add I wish to see you coming back with a new adventure with more "lesson learned" secured offers ˆˆ. I understand for now it's all negative and you are pretty sure you will not come back as provider, which is valid as well :).

It's very hard for me lately, because I and my ex split in January, a 9 year old relationship, with 2 kids.

Now the job loss, back in August, it's just... Tough.

I was doing therapy but had to stop it due to the lack of funds.

Oh man that terribly sucks (I guessed about break up :(). In Portugal is there also some non profit organization to support mental health? This exists in France and in Canada, I'd be surprised if it was missing in Portugal. I understand you may be low energy at this time so take your time this is valid emotion. Hope you have some close friends also watching on you and providing support!

I'm fine, I just need a job, seriously. I've worked in myself a lot in the last months to recover from the break-up.

    Bummer.

Anyone else remember when @MikePT had a 24- (or was it 48-) hour livestream event where people submitted graphic design jobs (logo, etc.) and you got to watch him and the crew work on your orders in their office? The camera was continuously up the whole time.
I seem to recall them periodically putting up signs that said "Hi LET!" and other things.

You've got a lot of history here, @MikePT, so don't be going anywhere.

Oh yes, I remember that very well, it was hell amazing!!!

  • Sucks as I signed up in this year for lifetime.

We'll get you squared away. I'm getting lunch and I've got a warranty appointment at Best Buy, then I'll try to help Mike here get everything settled before the end of day. I assume I won't be cutting shutoff times that close.

If still needed I can sponsor a (or two) decent dedicated servers (Ryzen 9 with 128/192GB RAM) in Germany until the end of the year and also some storage space (10-15TB) for backups, in case let me know via PM! @MikePT

I think there are enough providers here that can help you by giving you servers for free until you get back on track, but in my opinion, you should put an expiration date on lifetime plans for new customers, maybe even a long one but an expiration date is needed.

  • @MikePT can you please tell how much time we have till server shutdown?

It's either less than 8 hours (being liberal about time) or no less than a year if all goes fine.

This most likely is something Mike doesn't know either, as he is in talks with @jar about postponing the shutdown.

Hey jar, thank you so much for looking up something with MikePT, all customers we are will appreciate a better issue for sure ˆˆ. Being an MXRoute customer on an amazing recurring discount I can only imagine how powerful can be a partnership or whatever it is with MyW :).

Yes, lifetime offers are a gamble. They may last 100 years or 10 days. Better off spending money elsewhere. But we love to gamble, don't we?

Now where's the nearest bar around here...
