    @MikePT I have always looked up to you as an industry veteran. I am only amazed to see how could you loose a job mean I know you are technically sound and there must be some other reasons for that company to let go of talent like you. Anyways my prayers are with you and I hope you get out of this financial crunch soon.

    I really don't think that's true. People might avoid buying services from you, probably not forever, people forget, but you'll have somewhat of a uphill battle trying to establish another brand here if it ever gets to that.

    But I think the vast majority have no issues with seeing you here and participating, not every host lives on forever. If anybody expected what I guess is basically a one-man show to last forever, that's on them.

    It is hard to see anyone acquiring the business. The problem would be all the lifetime plans sold over the years. He even sold lifetimes with dedicated IP. Finding someone to take all this would be hard.

    Agree, probably @NDTN has free resources and want to offer them as a goodwill to community (or some other reason).

    lets see how it unfolds.

    even if someone wants to take over, i want to move data first to somewhere else (namecrane) and see how it forwards from here.

    @MikePT I am very very sorry that you have lost your job and that things are looking bad financially.

    But I am also disappointed as a human being. I bought three Reseller Entry Lifetime for โ‚ฌ80 each (โ‚ฌ240) in Q2 2024. If you calculate that down to around 4 months in which I actively used it, that's โ‚ฌ60 per month. I would have got a better service from any premium provider with better support. I'm not accusing you of anything and I know you're a high-ranking forum member, but I'm afraid that you'll start another hosting company in the next few years and 'acquire' customers with the same business strategy.

    I'm an unlucky guy anyway, I've been kicked out of five web hosting companies as a reseller and got stuck with my costs (Total loss โ‚ฌ 1700). And some of them pursued the strategy of dissolving the company due to alleged illiquidity and suddenly a new company was founded a few days later. Naturally with significantly inflated prices.

    But I was also dumb myself, I should never have fallen for a lifetime offer. In my opinion, no more lifetime offers should have been sold if the cover was not guaranteed for at least the next three years. @MannDude Alternatively, a ban on offers in the forums would also be beneficial.

    I think that selling MyW would be a good option, since you only have relatively few servers anyway, it should be relatively easy, the only question is whether this is even wanted. The first companies I would think of for this would be @silicomnet or @visualwebtechnologies . The offers are almost identical and would fit in well. But European data protection directives can also be invoked here, as it is not permitted to sell customer data.

    I don't want to insinuate anything, but the circumstances are somewhat questionable.

    Speaking of which, I've been in web hosting for 15 years and have always paid for it out of my personal income because I think I owe it to my few customers. But I don't think a sense of duty exists in today's world.

  • I'm using MyW reseller plan for 4 years, 2 years ago I had no money to renew it, and I was mentally ready just to let it expire and go offline. but I reached out to him and told him what was going on, and he just renewed it for 4 extra months for free.

    He paid it forward, and I'm sure not only with me. so I hope others pay it back?

    I currently have a storage VPS with 1T free space, at your disposal Mike, just let me know my friend.

    @NameCrane woke me up to help him out. It's 4AM so give us a few. I'm just spinning up another node as we speak.

    I've given @NameCrane my blessing to do whatever discounts he wants to help things along. We wont' do lifetimes or things like that, sorry, but we can do some breaks. Waiting on a mod (I asked @DP, maybe @FAT32 can help?) to give us a go ahead to make a refugee thread. we're still on our offer cooldown period though.

    Migration center should be fine now. Imunify will almost always get in the way, but that looks fine now.
