Also, those that had services on Xeon Gold 6138 (2.0 GHz ) got a free upgrade to Xeon Gold 6148 ( 2.4 GHz )

    Xeon V4 2680 and 2660 got free upgrade to E5-2687W v4 ( 3.0 Ghz )

We swapped out some Consumer NVME's we had and replaced it with Dell PM1725.

Mine is still on Xeon Gold 6130 (after reboot)
That said, I'm still very satisfied
    It's already a nice upgrade

I'll probably upgrade specs again in a few months if the quality remains the same
    Congrats for reaching this level

dm/open a tiket, so I can look into this.

    Edit:

The 6130 will get also an upgrade soon, but we have to migrate all off of it first. That node has other issues before we make an upgrade to it.

All on that node will be upgraded to 6148

Ooo, looks nice. How many kilobytes of storage is in that pic?

    Yap, it was.

We waisted 1 hour with the Fabric Extender as it did not want to comunicate with the nexus N9K.
Initially all went well… until it didn’t.

So at the end we took the networking apart again and swapped the the FEX with the catalyst switch and reconfigured the whole shit back.

Depending on the node you were , for some the downtime was 5h for some it was 8h

We can accommodate a few instances of windows 3.11 Network Edition and 2 to 4 instances of NT4.0.

We might even have space for a few copies of Duke Nukem 3D, Quake 1, Doom and Lemmings :D :D

nop, that did not reach me, might heard of it, but, sincerely, cannot remember. that was like 30+ years ago. I can't even remember what day it was yesterday :D :D

    Yes, it is.

Windows OS is using 1.1 GB memory out of 4 GB, this is to show that Windows Server OS is pretty resource optimized.

Thank you for all your hard work and cpu upgrade. I am just one of many many customers who greatly appreciate this.

  • We are pleased to inform you that customers with Xeon V4 CPUs (E5-2680/2690) now have the opportunity to upgrade their VPS CPU with a one-time payment of $6.

The proposed upgrade is to the Xeon Gold 6148 (2.4 GHz).

Key differences between the Xeon V4 and Xeon Gold include:

    AVX512 Support
    Double Memory Bandwidth ( 76.8 GB/Sec for the V4 and 127.8 GB/sec for the Xeon Gold )
    Newer CPU Architecture
Intel Deep Learning Boost (DL Boost) as a result of vectorized processing with AVX-512
Depending on your workload, these enhancements will lead to a smoother, higher-performing experience.

If you feel this upgrade is right for you, please open a ticket with the subject 'CPU Upgrade,' and we’ll process your request.

This offer is in limited quantity, so if you need it, hurry up!

    THX,

Forgot to mention there, that those that have PLEX or alike services will benefit also in trans-coding speed on these CPU's.

Intel Deep Learning Boost (DL Boost) as a result of vectorized processing with AVX-512

Guys, I made a confusion, as this CPU has 2x AVX-512 FMA Units I automatically assumed it has DL Boost, it does not.

DL Boost consists of two sets of features:

    • AVX-512 VNNI, 4VNNIW, or AVX-VNNI: fast multiply-accumulation mainly for convolutional neural networks.
    • AVX-512 BF16: lower-precision bfloat16 floating-point numbers for generally faster computation. Operations provided include conversion to/from float32 and dot product.

    • DL Boost features were introduced in the Cascade Lake architecture.

Regarding DL Boost - Nop, it does not have that apparently, feel free to hang me for the mistake. :'(
