Those are nicely burned in disks, par for the course at OVH.

BTW with Gemini's help I made Python script that prints out couple lines rather than such wall of text. I tested on my couple servers, it works reasonably well but might not show info for different models. Try it and let me know what to improve:

I had it worse than that.
    SSD instead of ordered NVMe.

  • You can always ask for your HDD/nvme to get replaced but its another lottery what you get. As long as disk works (could be brand new or even more worn) OVH will replace it.

So you can hope for better disk but end up with worse

I think yes before they found out about the SAS vs SATA mistake. Then all locations were oos, then BHS came back. Haven't seen RBX to come back yet. And yes, I'm lurking as well.

There might still be a use case for the auto buyer server hunter scripts then.

No 10G/10G luck but at least 1G/10G.

Sata HDDs* are HGST Ultrastar DC HC520 (He12) with 7200rpm and ~10k hours each, the NVMe is a WDC CL SN720 SDAQNTW-512G-2000.

*) yeah, no SAS HDDs, but I've ordered that one after they corrected it, so here I cannot complain.

Too bad that RBX is oos.

RBX, is it possible to replenish? If not, we can only join Canada.

2.99 reminds me of The Online.net Kidechire...

I still rock one of the 2.99€ sata hdd boxes and provide solid uptime and unmetered 1gbps

What.?! My kidechire was plugged out years ago

Hello c'est moi Octave. Fredo came to Roubaix to get his KS-A delivered and I'm stealing his phone while he's in the toilettes. I wanted to tell you all it's finished the Baguettes loto. No more fun. We are publicly traded company, no more mystery, no more 2.99 shitbox. Bye!

Its weak cpu but can handle a decent moderate load of caddy as reverse proxy.

    Literally 0 downtime.

Earlier I had over 5 years+ of uptime hosting a jellyfin instance. Worked great when direct streaming (or whatever is called) without encoding and it was 🔥

  • Can any OVH pros or insiders (cough Thomas cough) provide a ELI5 on RISE-LE-3 and RISE-LE-4?

    Have they already sold?

    Are they actually coming soon?

Any chance they appear in the US datacenters?
