how you check the ssd name, tbw and all other details in server?
As root:
smartctl -a /dev/sdX. For TBW, check theHost_Writes_32MiBproperty, multiply by 32 and divide by 1024 twice (or, well, by 1048576).Congratulations on the lottery.
It's a hit/ miss. Sometimes with ssd, replacement may turn out to be in your favor. With spinning rust it may go otherwise.
Tried it long time ago and I ended up in the second category receiving older disks.
Good luck and keep us posted.
PS. They worked in the replacement within an hour of my request. No questions asked.
is there a little upgrade bonus for sys-le? Is there anyone who got it?
They also informed this date to me and my friend
can we confirm if it is the same support person or different in each case? i wish all get their server and offer extra to others.
Even older than you already had? I mean, what would be a rough estimate of the ones you asked for replacement and the replaced ones?
It should still last a few years, these HD's are reliable, check his health parameters with smarttools
My friend and I were helped by Humberto, practically the same message.
there is the possibility of delivering a similar server, such as the i7 7700K
Hehe. Yeah. Even older.
I had it at 65k. Ended up with 79k ๐ ๐ ๐ but no issues till date. Been many months ago.
let's hear from @MulTifiu
I was going to post something related to this.
Finally got a KS-LE-1 and a KS-LE-2 (both in RBX3). No lottery, no upgrades, no nothing. No IPMI, either.
KS-LE-1 info is:
According to dmesg, SATA disks are working at 3.0 Gbps.
And KS-LE-2 info is:
According to dmesg, SATA disks are working at 6.0 Gbps.
I've done a preclear of the disks to check them and the process for the HGST_HUS726020ALA610 drives takes around 13-14h while HGST_HUS724020ALA640 takes up to 21h. First step (pre-read whole disk) takes twice as long on the HGST_HUS724020ALA640 drives O_o
I'm guessing that in a SoftRAID configuration speeds depend on the slowest disk in the array, so I'm not sure if those HGST_HUS724020ALA640 drives will affect the overall performance.
Network speeds are Meh at best (compared to a KS-3 in GRA or even a KS-2 in BHS). I'll try tweaking the BBR settings like @buddermilch suggested.
It's a pity I couldn't get a KS-LE-E dedi (order was nuked as others) because I have mixed feelings about these BF "deals".
As for the lottery like added drives, will they really keep it even when you ask for replacement when it fails? Or they're like nah, you shouldn't have it in the first place.
That would be a d*ck move if you were running them in a RAID array...
We'll it's separate. Mine was 2x450G NVMe as advertised but they added 2x4T HDD.
I've been wondering exactly this too!
Most likely the extra drives are in the hardware configuration. For example in the API it's there:
/dedicated/server/{serviceName}/specifications/hardware
Pretty sure the technician in the datacenter only sees this, not what was advertised in the catalog.
Unless there is a serious issue with the whole system or something and they decide to swap the hardware, then you never know.
Not fear mongering just laying out a scenario when it may not be honored
I just got a KS-LE-E server that I ordered on the 19th, so the probability that they will give the KS-A is 2%.
Any upgrade?
I don't know yet, I'll let you know later, if anyone else has received one on the 19th, please let me know.
SSD or HDD? Which DC?
SSD in BHS (Canada)
which location?
RBX3, but I got another completely vanilla server from that location.
Updated my bot again to allow for multiple datacenters to be selected.
Thanks for your help friend, you are the best!
Anyone know what the standard config LE-E HDD is worth? Got one that I'm thinking about transferring. Monthly + setup fee an acceptable price?
Having similar issues and not sure if I will renew. Got a KS-LE2 and the whole system is very sluggish....took 3 minutes to install GRUB to another drive. HGST Ultrastar 7K4000 drives with 85,000 hours and about 90 MB/S speeds.
I also have a SYS-SAT32 that is much faster. HGST Ultrastar 7K6000 drives with 40,000 hours and about 170 MB/S speeds. 4K read and write speeds are over double that of the KS-LE2. Odd, because the D1520 CPU which is a decent amount slower then the E3-1231v3.....
