Free Shell Accounts on a KVM VPS -- Perry and Tom give back!

Not_OlesNot_Oles Member, Patron Provider

Hi LET!

@perryoo11 and @Not_Oles have been hanging around the Low End for awhile. Low End is a lot of fun!

Now Perry and Tom are giving back. Perry has kindly donated a KVM VPS on his dedicated server. Perry and Tom are admins, plus maybe some additional community members could be added to the admin team.

You guys are invited to join! Please request your free shell account by posting here in this thread. Please post about what you want to do with your shell account. We might ask you to PM or email identity information.

Perry and Tom expect this project to last at least one month, but the lifetime might be extended. The VPS' specs also might be increased.

Here's a Yabs so you can see the specs and performance of the VPS on which Perry and Tom are giving out free shell accounts.

Thanks!

Tom a/k/a @Not_Oles

  • Interesting...
I would like to apply for one if Ubuntu 22.04 or higher is available....
I generally use them to test data or routing based projects & uptime monitoring from different locations (Nothing resource intensive)

    Hi @Caztiel!

What is being offered here is not a VPS. It's a shell account on Debian 12. As you know, kind of like Ubuntu, but not 100% Ubuntu.

We probably could install Qemu and you probably could run your Ubuntu VPS with slirp. Or maybe we could install NAT rules.

Or maybe you could install Nix? Or use proot? I haven't done either of these yet.

It sounds like you have interesting projects! Do you have a website or a project source code repo that we could see?

Looking forward to welcoming you on board!

    Thanks and best wishes!

    Tom

  • I need a shell account for psybnc to IRC chating and i also want some ipv6 ip addresses for rDNS my subdomains to use as a vhost on PSYBNC.

  • @Not_Oles I've been curious about your product for a long time, but always stuck to the applicable requirements, such as having helped people, being active in forums and so on.

If now without conditions I want to try and want to know what I can do with this shell account, can this work like a VPS? Can I reinstall the OS if an error or crash occurs in the application I installed?

I would like to test my panel hosting project if I get this opportunity.

  • Would it be possible to run LXC on this w/o root?

    @thenewuser @reyokh @szymonp

Thanks for your interest! This offer was posted on August 19, and expected to last one month. Unfortunately nobody picked it up soon enough for the offer to be extended. Better luck on the next offer!

    Kindest regards,

    Tom

I am not in need of a shell account, was just curious what the hypothetical limitations are

I understand because I have high myopia, astigmatism, and cataracts. Google's Hgh Contrast Accessibility Extension for Chrome helps me a lot.

If you don't mind me asking, how long have you been in Nepal? What brought you there?

My Father got a book of Hatha Yoga (the Body Yoga) and that book got a really hard exercises for recovering different body Functions of Human,

My Father Recover his eyes vision after a year of everyday training his eyes muscles and eyes blood vessels

that exercises are only take 10 min to complete, and i can make youtube video for you tomorrow about it, what about me,

i also did them before, i also will have to exercise them later, right now my life is on the edge, i am living without a home, without anything , traveling from place to place.

Answering your question: i am 2 Months in Nepal, i Came from Delhi, i was staying in India a couple Months also, since people can not stay in India longer than 90 days each time up to 180 days during 1 year,

i had to make a choice for moving to Nepal, and for Nepal it also have it own limitations for Visitors

Right now it is 1:40 AM in Nepal, it is a bit Late, so i have to Apologize, that i need some rest a while.

    Thank You Kindly.

    Hi Denton!

Thanks for offering to make an eye exercise video! I would not want you to go through the trouble of making the video for me unless there was reason to believe that the exercises would help any of my three specific issues: progressive myopia, astigmatism, and mature cataracts.

You did not say what were your father's eye problems. Did your father also have any of progressive myopia, astigmatism, and cataracts?

If your father's eye problems (and your eye problems -- you also wear glasses) are different from mine, is there nevertheless a reason why the exercises might be helpful for someone with progressive myopia, astigmatism, and cataracts?

It sounds like you are having great adventures travelling! I am doing somewhat the same, being from New York City, and visiting in Mexico. After I enjoyed six months in California, I dropped down into Mexico. I wanted to travel on to Asia . . . but the COVID came. I returned to NYC for a while. Now I am back in Mexico, and maybe I still could visit Asia.

Hope you have a good sleep!

    Best!

1st of all have to say Thank You for Your Answer, that is important for me.

About your question around eyes muscle training - if we are talking about Body Yoga (Hatha Yoga) it is telling that Human Body is Always Need Training/Exercising,

if not some parts of a body become weak may lost ability for that primary functions they are created for,

in my small opinion "The Eyes Muscles and Bloog Vessels Training can not be harmful in any kind of Disease" However it is better to test on yourself,

according to Ayurveda which is staying on the planet some thousands years, there are different type's of body, and healing treatment for them are slightly different also.

I wish you find a chance to Visit Asia and Travel Directly in a Place that you would like to Visit, i can say it worth it, completely different life,

completely another understanding of the value of our life.

you may see the link in your private messages on LowEndTalk,

When you go to someone's profile here, you usually will see a "Message" button in the upper right and an "Add Comment" button in the lower right. The "Message" button opens a new page on which you can write a private message. The text box on the profile page and the "Add Comment" button post publicly on the profile's wall.

I made this exact same mistake when I first came here! :)

I checked to make sure the video link you posted on my wall works here, and I confirm that it does work. However, I only watched a few seconds of the video because it is late. Tomorrow I will watch the entire video.

Thank you Kindly, Hope it may Help you,

also i would recommend Indian Natural Eye Drops like "Drishti" or others.

I never heard of Drishti before! I will check it out. Thanks!

    Best wishes!
