Seeking for affordable windows vps for remote desktop

orangecatorangecat Member
edited August 2024 in Requests

As I'm sharing openai cookies with my frineds in order to share the gpt4.I need a windows vps which can use remote desktop to surf on internet to keep my cookie fresh.
The spec should be:
Budget:3USD /month
NAT is ok
The specs must afford chrome to surf
Annually payment is acceptable, but must have a trial time
Any prmotions?
Okay I'll try to create a VM in my dediserver first, but still open to any promotions :*

You need to adjust your budget

    @DataWagon
$6 / month vps - Windows licensing included

  • VPS to run Windows especially running a browser requires at least 4GB of RAM.
It's not easy to find for $3/month without a promo.

Streaming a 4k video is not my usecase nor do I use it to measure performance. I use systems that suit my needs, I don't always need the bleeding edge of comoute.

Stability, decent network and support is important. With shared resources it will never be equitable with bare metal performance.

That is an indicator of vps computing power.

    Totally agree 100%

Really curious is it your personal indicator or industry standard?

Here is the configuration recommended for smooth RDP experience

    4 GB Memory
2x vCPU with single GB6 score of 1000+ and multi core score of 1800+
    30 GB NVMe storage

on 12 GB storage, well it is a joke

Indeed is not recommended, but possible, some of our users are using windows on that plan (idk for what tho lol), I just threw an option, 1 hour of that vps costs €0.0042 to do a test.

I have developed tests to measure computing power in an easy manner and YouTube video test is the most simple test that any user can run

For example, on RDP machine, minimum test would be 480p video test should not consume more than 60% cpu utilization

For most powerful RDP, 4k test should keep cpu utilization below 50%

In addition, I have developed tests based on database engine test using MS SQL Server

    I am payinmg $25 / year for this VPS with 2gb memory / 2 vCore Ryzen 7950x / 40 GB

    Geekbench 6 Benchmark Test:
    ---------------------------------
    Test | Value
                    |
    Single Core | 2684
    Multi Core | 4768
    Full Test | https://browser.geekbench.com/v6/cpu/7367838

since vCPU is pretty powerful, it would beat any 4GB 2vCore EPYC VPS in smoother RDP experience. Having powerful vCPU is the most important factor

  • Nothing bests Hetzner when it comes to hourly VPS to run Windows.

    Nothing

    And Hetzner is premium.

We all know you are the windows god here, I just sent my modest offer :)

I doubt I can reach that $25/year offer unfortunately..

I owe everything I have today to programming in Windows OS … including the international job that brought me to this country.

And I consider myself still a learner.
