I have a sharing pics website, looking for a few fairy good VPS. I wonder which one is better:

One of netcup: RS 16000 G11 AMD EPYC™ 9634 128 GB DDR5 RAM (ECC) 24 dedicated cores 4 TB NVMe SSD
3 of netcup RS 4000 G11 AMD EPYC™ 9634 32 GB DDR5 RAM (ECC) 12 dedicated cores 1 TB NVMe SSD (round robin balancing)
or 3 of hetzner CPU Intel Core i7-6700 RAM 32 GB Drives 2 x 500 GB SSD (balancing)

(1) and (2) https://www.netcup.eu/vserver/#root-server-details
(3) https://www.hetzner.com/sb/#

1 and 2 are virtual core (how many threads?) but 3 is dedicated core

    I think 1 is good

  • If you will get abuse/dmca complaints none of the mentioned ones are the right ones for you. Otherwise i would go with the netcup one

    Thanked by 1lzy666
  • Purely for proxy/load balance?

Massive overkill you can do this with 1core 1/2gb ram for each node, most important thing is bandwidth/speed & latency to main server

For the DMCA, if we host the stuff somewhere, just the code, db, and dynamic generators here, are they good?

My site also needs php and consumes 40mb each thread, it might need storage for temp file, can your statement stand? Enlighten me with some link/tut, please.

Not 100% sure on your setup but your backend should do 95% of the work and the several nodes will you use for load balancing/content delivery will just use bandwidth using something like haproxy this works very well

  • Use cloudflare or get a VPS and use it as a proxy in some country or data center which don't care about dmca

  • And ffs where is @Calin he normally posts in every of such threads

Thank you man. That's a good start. I have a few quick questions: hope you can help in your free time:

    1. How is your 12 dedicated core comparing to an i7/ryzen 4 core 8 threads in terms of computation?
    2. Why on netcup, from 12 core to 24 core (x2) but price is 3x expensive? A 24 core vs 3x 12 core, which is better pick?
    3. do you have more than 12 core with more than 50TB bw? Now, i am using about 10Tb/month (97T btotal, 87Tb CF cached: https://prnt.sc/kD-8GQqPRt-a )
  • Netcup would be the best option.

Hello more that 12 cores not possible , we don't want overloaded our node , yes possible more that 50 TBs bandwidth , just write me to PM and we possible make a quato :)

    All companies have different costs

Don't know exactly , depend how you optimising website etc.. , but it's 12 dedicated cores , we hosted KiwiFarms what have 15-20k requests per day and all work good

    Calin

Right now, my site has 300k unique visitors/94M request monthly.

You are talking about 15k-20k per day, let say 600k monthly. Which doesn't make sense. Are you talking about 15M-20M requests or 15k-20k visitors daily?

Hello , I just told how our VPS works on our biggest client (At least with such a lot of traffic).

    @CraigRoeder said: 15k-20k visitors daily

Considering that it's a forum, every visitor definitely makes at least 5-7 requests by exploring the threads

    Calin
