Where do you see this? I have 10Gbit dedi and VPS and I don’t even know how to view my usage let alone a limit lmfao

  • tra10000tra10000 Member

It may reduce the bandwidth limit but the disk size must increase.

I got throttled for using too much bw. They told me to buy a dedi.

    Hi,

We have VPS customers for EUR 5 per month who use 500 TB per month. This is anything but economical, in fact we openly communicate that the traffic is ‘free’ and it still is, but there are customers (to mention spaceberg.cc) who take advantage of our services to rent out any servers with a lot of traffic for little money, we want to prevent that. If there is really a customer here with normal traffic (without any seedboxes and regular abuse messages) who needs more than 100 TB, then they are welcome to let us know. I think there are hardly any providers who allow 100 TB with a 5 EUR VPS and 10G shared.

Since we have changed our products, we have seen a 200% increase in the number of abuse reports, many people book servers to expand their botnet and the like. As a German company, we cannot tolerate this and - we would also prefer not to have a general limit - we unfortunately have to act in this case and introduce an automatic mechanism that prevents non-legal use cases.

tl;dr: if you need regular 100 TB per month, then write to me and we will find a solution, but we will no longer keep the doors open to any seed boxes, unnecessary speed test servers and the like for a 5 EUR VPS.

I understand, but so I now it's limited ? Because you can also just limit the users that abuse and not everyone right ?

    I understand, but so I now it's limited ?

Yes - unfortunately - because of the mass abuses. However, we currently only enforce the limit in the event of massive overruns. The limits on the website initially have nothing to do with the ‘hard quota’. The connection is then limited to 100 MBit/s.

Basically: even if you buy cheaply (assuming only Cogent), the price is 4 cents per Mbit/s, a vServer that permanently draws 5 GBit/s thus causes costs of 250 EUR - not worthwhile for 5 EUR per month, even if its only PNIs. The alternative would have been to route all customers exclusively via the cheapest carriers on the market, but I don't think that's an alternative, which is why we prefer to communicate openly what the limits are. Hiding any limits of 1 TB in the terms and conditions is not our style.

I dont think that you find another provider which allows 100 TB with 10G shared on a 5 EUR server per month.

True, will continue using you, and see what happens just sad I gets abused so much. Iam also not in for abuse but most of the time I will not even be using 20TB but maybe sometimes a spike can happen

As I said, we would have liked to have prevented this, but there are many people who do this on purpose.

What is the limit on bandwidth now? Will the limit be the same for dedicated servers?

  • dataforestdataforest Member, Host Rep

Guys, you are looking for problems where there are none. 99% of our customers have no problem with this and use 1-2 TB per month, 0.9% abuse the bandwidth and use significantly more than 100 TB, the other 0.1% are welcome to get in touch if they need more (also you @concept or @WhiteRoseG). Currently the internal limit is 100 TB of traffic, which should be more than enough for any virtual server, we only want to prevent abuse :D

Just want things to be more clear, to prevent misunderstanding. Does 100TB Limit apply to Dedicated Servers too?

  • Oke so for my understanding I only get capped if I use more then 100tb/month ?

Spaceberg once again fucking up a good thing for everyone.

    Yeah, just kick them out.

    OVH dropped them
    Hetzner dropped them
    Avoro dropped them

Why don’t they just copy Dan Walker again and resell Leaseweb? @Spaceberg fuck you

  • adilolvadilolv Member

I really don't use more than 1TB per server. I just checked and in the whole month most server with high traffic only has 300 GB lol

  • @Spaceberg go f yourself

We have already done this 3 times, but there are always new customer accounts that we only find out about later.

and if you were to run this 1 TB at 10G for X minutes, that wouldn't be a problem :disappointed:

They do already. They resell IONOS and Oneprovider (Scaleway) too.

Maybe because leaseweb only sells to verified companies and to get discounts you have to have volume. Which can be hard to build up if you can't match the price of other leaseweb resellers.
