Especially interesting starting at 11:15 where he analyzes datacenter crash rates

I got an i9-13900 (not even the K version) at hetzner. Within a few weeks the server froze, it had to be reset with a manual power cycle.

I started monitoring the temps and it was consistently spiking over 90 degrees C. I tried underclocking it for a while, then I thought it was stupid that I was paying extra for this fast cpu just to have to underclock it. So I put the clocks back to normal and it didn't freeze or crash for the next few months I had the server strangely.

It's nice to know it wasn't just me though. Hetzner support blamed it on me of course.

I've had an i9-14900K for about a year...havent had any major issues other than the occasional crash while playing video games or running Handbrake with maximum cores, but it's Windows, so...

  • They are still manufacturing heaters. Good for people who want to stay warm in winters while gaming and hot in summers.

That’s not normal to me, I can’t even recall my latest crash because I was maxing my CPU. Only exception being bad overclocking. When I’m not playong around with that, basically never.

    Edit: My desktop’s using a 5600.
