Does anyone have experience with NetBird mesh VPN?

I'm looking to replace HeadScale with a fully open-source solution because relying on commercially maintained clients, (Tailscale), is constantly causing problems. For example the latest Android client doesn't have an option to use your own server, and after updating the Windows client I've just had to delete/recreate the node, which is unsustainable.

I've found a similar solution called NetBird, (BSD-3 license, active development and fully open-source), which looks like it'll be a big improvement, but wondering if anyone has any experiences/horror stories before I start rebuilding my entire cluster on top of it.
