[SEARCH] IPMI Ryzen Motherboard
Hello,
I am looking for an IPMI-compatible motherboard for my server, which is equipped with a Ryzen R9 5900X processor. I am interested in both new and refurbished options. I'm based in France, so Europe shipping currently possible but USA & others probably to high shipping cost.
Could you please provide me with your best available offers?
Thank you in advance for your assistance and response.
Best regards,
Théo S.

Hi,
you should state where you are located. Would not make any sense to send something around the globe with 20% transport cost of the item value...
Good, thx you for telling me haha
here you go

select am4 from left, choose your mainboard and find a reseller in your country here:

Gigabyte Mainboard MC12-LE0 Re1.0 AMD B550 AM4 Ryzen 5000 4000 Server Board NEU
44EUR @ ebay.de
I have a few of those as well, updating to the latest bios and ipmi firmware was a bit tricky, but the board themselves are amazing!
Unmatched price considering they are brand new boards.
They are notoriously unreliable and have a weird board layout. However, given the price, it's awesome
I wish we had some in the US, I would totally pick up a few for a homelab or something
+1 on Asrock Rack MB's
+1 for AM4, but not for AM5
So, Gigabyte motherboard is good ?
Gonna buy one it's like 65€ with the shipping fee thx
Well, it’s not like the ASRR boards are that much better… at least the Gigabyte boards cheap 😭
I’ve been losing hair trying to keep my D4Us alive…meanwhile, I have this piece of shit Intel board that’s been working nonstop for a decade lol (but ASRR thinks it’s acceptable to sell $200 boards w/ PCIe issues and firmware bugs — at least the X470D4Us anyway)
Avoid taiwan designs for reliable server applications, so your only ryzen option is supermicro
Edit: For 5900x there are no good options, you will have to suffer asrock
Gonna buy Gigabyte I thinks it's the best solution for me, it's like for a pterodactyl so not gonna have a lot of charge all the time
I just need it work when I want to go in the IPMI and the rest of the time I don't care the moment it do the job I need haha
Do you need the board right now?
In which country do you live? German buyers can go to the original shop from the eBay merchant where they often have huge discounts. Last months I just bought another 2x for 33€ each, including shipping.
If you wait they frequently give out 20% discount coupons, or you can use their ‚suggest your own price‘ feature.
I need it asap yeah, it's 65€ for me in france shipping include I don't know what the best price you can get me GO pm !
If you think ASRR is bad, the Gigabyte boards are way worse. The only M.2 slot on the Gigabyte board is wired with Gen3 x1, and so many people have reported problems with DOA boards or even weirder problems. I think they were either rushed through development, or made for a single client in mind.
The Gigabyte EPYC boards are quite solid, in fact we use a ton of them (both for Milan and Genoa), but Ryzen AM4 not so much.
x1? my god I'm sorry
I have 3 of those boards and after the tricky updating process, the only issues that i have found are:
Note: 3DX also run great on this board... 5700x3d in my workstation.
The two other boards that are running 24/7 so far no issues.
If you look at the gigabyte forums, you will find that nobody reported DOA boards and all those DOA comes from the same person that posted the same story about his 6 dead boards all over the internet. And that got a life of its own... If you check the forums that deal with the board or mydealz etc, they work IF people properly get the BMC updated and the bios to F12->F14. Recently had somebody comment on my reply that has a issue, with boot / wrong CPU being reported, only for him to discover he used RDIMMs ECC instead of regular UDIMM ECC. lol ...
And you can find those boards for 33 Euro ( https://www.piospartslap.de/Gigabyte-Mainboard-MC12-LE0-Re10-AMD-B550-AM4-Ryzen-5000-4000-3000-Server-Board-NEU-NEW ) puts them in promo every 30 a 45 days. Last promo was 33 Euro...
Way better then the ridiculous 300 a 400 Euro prices for the ASrock version (that has a lot more reported issues)!
Not bad, I have just personally heard a lot of stories of dead boards (more than just that case) from people I know that have bought Gigabyte Ryzen boards.
I think they are neat boards for the price indeed, I could live with those bugs for 30-60 euro. I just wouldn't really use them for production (but to be fair, I don't like using ASRockRack either).
Maybe I'll import a few
Could just get a cheap AMD mobo and just use a RPI kvm if got one laying around...
That is a instant 200 Euro price cost and its just a KVM. While a BMC does more then that. And just having a Pi laying around is a brave statement these days. Cheapest clone pikvm is via aliexpress and that is still like 140 euro if you inc all.
The reason why things like the pikvm exist is because bmc/ipmi capability is normally a serverboard only thing or expensive asrock rack boards (400 euro boards) for AM4/AM5...
This is why people love these gigabyte boards... 33 a 60 euro AM4 + BMC! Funny thing, the BMC on those gigabyte boards is actually the 2500, where as the Asrock boards is the 2400.
I got 3 boards here for 100 Euro, with that BMC ... Try topping that with any PiKVM + cheap board combo below 500 Euro for 3 boards.
shrug I got Pi's laying around... But I won't go hijacking this thread any on that topic
Just throwing Ideas out there
someday we'll be able to use ESP-32 or similar micro controller for this
https://alu.dog/posts/failed-project-an-esp32-s3-based-KVM-solution/
There's already a RISC-V KVM with much lower price
https://lunar.computer/news/sipeed-announces-new-20-risc-v-kvm-device/
So, I buy a gigabyte gonna tell you the result
I mean.. at the scale of 1 mobo, luck will probably be a more important factor than brand.
Yeah sure, but I don't think I'm gonna have some problem or whatever it's still a "ok tier" mobo it's not like aliexpress or whatever things
good find, trying to get some myself at that price. will replace all my consumer boards in the homelab
With the new AMD Epyc 4000 series, we should see some nice AM5 ECC/IPMI motherboards coming soon.

Honestly not bad
