A small list of things so far I like at @SiliCloud.

    • IPv4 address is clean from all blacklists (checked with HetrixTools). This is awesome.
    • The provider offers 1 /64 IPv6 on every machine, with 8 random /128 addresses already configured on the virtual machine to choose from. All IP addresses have rDNS available.
    • For OS install many templates are available, and by many I mean a lot, including FreeBSD, OpenBSD and RouterOS. This is a rare and pleasant thing to see, even though over time I mostly ended up liking FreeBSD and Debian.
    • The control panel is nice, clean, and advanced with lots of options, including scheduled snapshots. There is monitor page too, where clients can monitor their systems.
    • VM even comes with a firewall. By default all ports are open, but one can restrict any port at any time using customer's customized security groups.
    • There is SSH key usage too, for those aware that weak passwords can be brute-forced.
    • For security they actually check for addresses and phone numbers to be valid at registration. Interestingly they also have 2FA (not enforced). There is even a login log available, for customer to see who has logged into account and when.
    • This provider has intranet, meaning customer can setup firewall security groups for special connections between multiple servers. I don't know if this works between different datacenters though.
    • Upgrade of cloud server can easily be done to a better server with just a few clicks.

The things I don't quite like:

    • All snapshots are paid. It would have been better to allow just 1 free snapshots. Many new users don't know how to make proper backups, therefore a free pre-configured automated weekly backup would be really helpful in my opinion.
    • Even though there are many templates available and I am happy with that, sometimes users don't trust the templates. It would be nice to have the option of loading an ISO and manually partition and install the operating system by the advanced customers themselves. Personally I like installing from ISO when it is available.
    • I see an option for changing the IPv4 within 24 hours. In my opinion this is redundant, as IP addresses are already clean from blacklists. Such concept is also confusing, because it says to contact sales support to see what's available - meaning a load on Support for something which could possibly be automated in my humble opinion.
    • There is a coupon page, with many coupons. I don't get that. I love all special offers with recurring price off. Maybe coupons should be avoided to save time on both provider and customer, but this is probably just me.
    • Security wise I don't get it why changing the password requires email confirmation. Maybe this could be disabled, especially if one has 2FA enabled. When changing password, it would make more sense to ask for the 2FA code instead of code from an email message. Probably this is just my preference.
    • MXRoute blocks email messages of SiliCloud. Error is "SMTP error from remote mail server after end of data: 554 5.7.1 Matched map: SPAMMY_SUBJ" with "[email protected]". @SiliCloud would probably want to consult with @jar for some fix about what's wrong - I don't know.

All in all this is a great provider on a first glance. I hope to see more offers with cheap recurring price and possibly a snapshot included.

It's a bit more complicated. Yahoo rejected the forwarded email with this error:

"554 5.7.9 Message not accepted for policy reasons. See https://senders.yahooinc.com/error-codes"

I rejected the attempt to forward the bounce email to the same Yahoo address as that would likely get rejected again and cause a forwarding loop. Given that Yahoo accepts your other email forwards, it is most likely that Yahoo dislikes emails from SiliCloud. This is likely something that needs to be resolved between SiliCloud and Yahoo. I have a contact they can reach out to if they'd like to escalate it, I'll give it to them privately if requested.

The weird aspect is that I ended up making my account with a Yahoo email address directly (because I could not receive the welcome email from MXRoute). Yahoo accepted the welcome email message directly, without marking it as spam or anything, even though Yahoo did not accept the same message as a forward from MXRoute. So something is strange here.

Interesting. Maybe a specific phrase or something. I did see some more rejects by Yahoo recently that seemed equally sender targeted since I couldn't prove any IP reputation issue. Yahoo also had some issues today that I believe they cleared up but I don't believe to be related. They may be changing some things. I'll do some more audits just to be absolutely sure there's nothing I can influence, can't hurt anything.
