hetzner's new shared intel x86 cpus for cheap

KebabKebab Member

New shared vCPU servers with Intel® processors

New server plans with shared Intel® vCPUs are now available! The new servers will officially replace the current shared Intel® vCPU server plans which are now deprecated*.

-Four new server plans
-CX22, CX32, CX42, CX52

-Prices down, performance up!
-CX22 combines the best features of the two smallest deprecated server plans as it comes with the superior performance of CX21 at the more attractive price of CX11. The other three new server plans feature twice as many vCPUs and, on top of this, more attractive prices than their predecessors!

*To give you time to adapt the new server plans, the old server plans (CX11, CX21, CX31, CX41, CX51) will remain available for order via API until 6 September 2024. Existing servers are not affected by this deprecation and will continue to work.

https://www.hetzner.com/cloud

its says "Best price-performance ratio with Intel® Xeon® Gold."

CX22 - 2 vcores - 4 GB ram - 40 GB storage - 20 TB bandwith - € 3.79 pretax
CX32- 4 vcores - 8 GB ram - 80 GB storage - 20 TB bandwith - € 6.80 pretax
CX42- 8 vcores - 16 GB ram - 160 GB storage - 20 TB bandwith - € 16.40 pretax
CX52- 16 vcores - 32 GB ram - 320 GB storage - 20 TB bandwith - € 32.40 pretax

seems like a great deal, same price as ARM for 2 vcores and 4gb, AMD is more expensive with less ram
it's only available in germany and finland at this time

    I have a cx11 still running @ 2.19/m
So if i upgrade it to cx22 price will be 2.19 or 3.29 ?

  • The score seems quite low. What is the score with an ARM instance with comparable specs?

so ARM is faster, but if you need x86 this is a good deal

Cheap compared to competition, they have good bandwidth pricing and don't have those "fair use" cpu policies

  • That is awesome! Rescaling all my Hetzner cloud servers to CX22.

  • Tbh I didnt like the single core speed on the new CX2* series

  • Everything is great with Hetzner. But it's like a sand castle. It may disappear suddenly.

  • While I love Hetzner's continued expansion of their cloud, it seems less appealing when compared to the much-superior performance of their ARM servers especially with how ARM's higher-cost plans are more affordable than the shared Intel offerings.....

I was literally stunned when I received a notification that I could upgrade from 1c2g to 2c4g for free. Now I realize it is truly an improvement. Nice deal, Hetzner!

Wondering what model of cpus does hetz utilize.

  • hyperhostsolutionshyperhostsolutions Member, Patron Provider

its a shame they hide what they are, but the clock speed is pretty low on hetzners new range

  • Hetzner's product line is much more clearly differentiated, with high performance going entirely to EPYC, but I don't think that's a bad thing.

Not all applications need high clock speeds, a lot of times you just need a multi-threaded CPU and a bit more memory.

Anyone has DirectAdmin or FastPanel on an ARM or x86 cloud instance on Hetzner that's hosting websites and emails without issues ? If so, did you send a request to unblock certain ports ? All help appreciated

If you had a hetzner account for a fair amount of time they will open SMTP ports on your account , if you have a brand new account they seem to refuse,

what im implying is if your account is 1-2 months old and then you want smtp opened , they would refuse under spam grounds . but after a few months they seem to normally allow users accounts , keep in mind you do have to explain your intentions

My account is registered and activated for about 5 months or so now but I haven't really purchased any services from them yet, would they refuse to open SMTP ports for me ?

You need to pay an invoice to get SMTP ports opened automatically.

    Thanked by 1HAMSW
