edited June 2024 in Requests

I almost had deal final with @jh_aurologic but he has not responding lately. I want a cheap colo provider outside USA with prices around the ones aurologic.com/colocation/ is providing. Can anyone suggest me. Will be starting with 1 unit in the start to check things out.

What are you looking for in terms of

    • Space
    • Power
    • Bandwith measured 95th percentile

    No response after 24.5.24.

    Space: 1 unit in start
Power: need to host E5 with 128 gb ram and 2tb ssd. I guess around 250 watt. Auoralogic is allowing max 300 watt.

    from 35,70 € per month
    1U in 19" shared Rack
    Tornado Datacenter FRA1
    1Gbps Uplink - up to n*100Gbps
    ATS protected PDU Feed (A+B)
    10TB Transfer incl. (0,95€/TB)
    Max. 300W power draw

But if you use 250W it would be 180 kWh * 0.42 EUR = 75 EUR per month for power, so it'd be around 100 EUR/month.
@dataforest's price for 1U with 250W included, 2 Gbps (100 Mbps 95/5, around 35TB) would be 120 EUR/month (https://php-friends.de/colocation-configuration), but maybe they could also something custom.

Where can I get this ?
    That’s super cheap

  • French Tornado shelters are not cheap.
But what you want is a french fire tornado shelter which is really not cheap but ultra secure. I think we can secure you something in Bermuda, Louisiana. Got you a deal for days.

    Hi,

    300 watt power draw = 216 kwh * 0,35 EUR = 75.60 EUR

which is the Power price, according to:

    https://www.tornadodc.com/colocation/

( Without the rackspace itself ).

I wonder how an offer with rackspace + power + traffic can result in a selling price that is 1/2 of only the power price according to the website of the datacenter.

( assuming that there are not multiple "tornado" datacenters close to frankfurt ).

This 0,35 EUR is a price that is still quiet cheap for frankfurt nowadays, but somehow possible.

While a selling price of 35,70 EUR with 300W, which would be 0,165 EUR per kwh is just not.

So, if i were you, i would not send my property to anywhere where its just too cheap to be true.

But of course, thats your choice :-)

If you want, in france we could offer:

    1U, 300W, 2x RJ45 1G, 2x Power AC, 50 TB Traffic = 120,- EUR / month

In germany, the same thing is 150,- EUR / month

    • 39,- EUR one time setup

OR ( and that just makes SO much more sense ), you will simply rent for more or less the same money a dedicated server like an Ryzen 9 7900, which has for sure more compute power than your Intel E5, power just needs around 100w power and not 250 or 200.

Even cheaper its just getting somewhere in eastern europe maybe, as the power is there even cheaper i think.

I assume you all are right but they have mentioned this price on their website so it must be doable.

They are not. See below. The quote from hostmayo is a bit misleading...

their pricing is just the colo space and the power limit (aka cooling). If you read carefully you will find they charge 0,42€ per kWh electricity on top of the space/cooling.

So lets add this up, assuming your server (E5) draws 200w on average: (200w x 24 hours x 7 days per week x 4.33 weeks in an average month) = 145488 watt hours or 145.5 kwh. So at the stated power price you are looking at: 145.5 kwh x 0,42€ = 61.1 Euro for the power.

So your total expense on them is: 35.7 for the RU(incl 10TB Transfer)+61.1 for the power = 96.8 Euro.

    Hi,

ah ok, sorry, i didnt see any mentioning of power will be charged separately...

If the power is charged with 42 cent separately, then of course the offer would work :-)

But if @lukast__ is right, then i would go with @dataforest simply because they are ( afaik!! ) in the maincube datacenter in Germany - Offenbach. And thats just something else compared to the tornado one ( what ever this might be ).

Well then I would love to see if someone can offer Ryzen server on LTO along with affordable colo option (including ip announcement).

If you want RTO/LTO please specify if you want new or refurbished hardware. And how much "guarantee"/"hw-replacement" time you want from the vendor.

Jup, been super busy - that said, such special deals like LTO I've offered are not our core business. If you need pure colocation, order it, send us the hardware and we install it - or with starting a 10U cab, come around, get access and install it on your own.

    Will follow up next week.

It's possible as I do own the datacenter and dont resell power from some random colocation provider, we buy it from the electricity company like every proper datacenter operator - and not some cage/cabinet reseller does. This comes with a lot of additional headache - generator must be periodically tested/fueled/maintenanced, UPSes must be periodically maintenanced, air conditioning must be periodicially maintenanced and so on.

But hey, it's nice to know your stuff. It's been a hard 2022/2023 for me building and enhancing a datacenter mostly with my bare hands. Almost burned me out. Cant recommend to do the same if you enjoy having a life :)

    Frankfurt https://23m.com/en/colocation
    90 eur for 300W

Power prices in Germany went down quite a bit this year. I'm paying just a bit under 2/3 of this on a residential contract. I'd guess big commercial customers would likely get even better deals, so it would probably at least not be that bad.

But that seems to be without power included as there is "Electricity price per kWh €0.35", with 250W average usage that'd be +63 EUR/month.
