HB/SO is well known as a BP provider. IF in fact you really didn't know that, you have big issues... especially because SO claims he owns the datacenter. :)

    What issues do we have?

SO hosts all sorts. Openly. Either you knew, or you didn't. If you didn't, you need to choose your partners more wisely and cut all ties.

The thread is an offer by Millenial.host. The claim that the DC/Network and whatever is HB is simply false. The fact that TA and HB have a connection and history is not really relevant.

My first comment is based on that my HB server was within the same subnet as mlnl.host's LT looking glass.
mlnl.host's post in the OGF got taken down aswell, not sure if because mlnl asked for it or because mods deemed inappropiate/whatever, which is weird.
I would not recommend anyone to host anything under those HB-leased/owned/whatever subnets, unless you really don't care about anything, it's a BP hosting basically, and TA or HB having any relation doesn't matter as HB is using those subnets for their cheapass servers and you clearly don't give a fxck with what happens with them.

You're directly supporting this BP hosting shit by being a direct peer and downstream of them.

Just googling this provider you'll find from the most illegal stuff to anything possible, it's fucking disgusting.

Again, what are you trying to say? I already said that as of 2019, they have operated independently. There has been no partnership for half a decade.

You're literally a client are you not? So I am supposed to cut them off, but you're happy to pay them for services?

And you think that we have more responsibility to not do business with HB more than not only yourself, but He.net and RETN? I mean... why are you holding us to such a high standard? But not yourself or anyone else?

And again, we are not their downstream. We are their upstream. We are not their client. You are apparently though.

I prepaid for a whole year, was made aware of all this way after this, now what do you want me to do with the server?
I noticed suricata blocking ssh attempts to my own server and then I was made aware of the whole mess with this ASN because I store logs. They were attacking my network for like a year I'd say? and then months after getting my server I blocked your ASN and HB ASN for incoming connections and outgoing outside my server IP.

I would be happy if you cut them off, I couldn't care less.

RETN is based in Russia AFAIK, there's no point on trying anything there.
Either way, that doesn't exclude you either. You have way more relations with that host (by being the fucking Founder) than business networks.

And again, we are not their downstream. We are their upstream. We are not their client. You are apparently though.

Yeah I messed up that, my bad sorry. I did incorrectly read some info.

RETN is UK based. HE.net is US based. Both are significantly larger than Tele Asia, so why are you expecting us to go above and beyond what major carriers would do?

Our IPs are slowly being phased out, and these resources returned to us.

This Millenial.host offer is an attempt to make use of those resources.

If you're going to tell people not to buy VMs from Millenial.host because Tele Asia also provides services to HB, then I hope you will at least be fair and consistent and post strong recommendations against any provider who uses RETN or He.net, for they are at least as, if not more guilty, than we for supporting "BP" hosting. And of course you should be upfront with your financial support to HB. Full disclosure yes?

RETN has a company in the UK, same as every single Russian company that wants to avoid sanctions. I haven't digged into their stuff, all I know is that they have RETN Limited in the UK and JSC "RetnNet" in RU.

yes professor, I'll make a list of the 3724 downstreams that HE has, 1033 downstreams that RETN Limited has and will avoid any provider using them.

and yes, I financially supported HB in the past because I was looking for cheap LT servers, which HB came up to be the cheapest (actually one of their sub brands) so I got one from them, when at a later date I noticed how they were. I'm sorry, I have over 200 servers with like 150 providers, I must do an extensive research of each one of the providers I buy servers to host simple proxy servers :)
next time I'll reconsider paying a whole year in advance from any provider to get a significant discount.

i also have 2 servers, one under RETN Limited ASN and another under their RU ASN, prepaid for a whole year, should I trash them now?

    thank you for reading

EDIT: I've also not told anyone to not buy from mlnl.host, I have no issues with them, but not buy from their LT location. "be aware if you're considering this provider with their Lithuania location" from my initial comment.

  • randvegetarandvegeta Member, Host Rep

@zGato said: either way, as a consumer, be aware if you're considering this provider with their Lithuania location, their servers/ip space/network provider (UAB Host Baltic) is well known for blatantly not caring about network/port scanners, ssh brute force, ... feel free to do your own research, you just need to google that provider name.

I mean... so many things wrong here, but ok. Let's gloss over all that on the technicality that you did not explicitly say "don't buy". But I think it is clear it was implied.

Yes we care, and yes we are able to, and yes we will.

Not that I'm a fan of UCE Protect, at least they have an auto-delist feature and our range has hardly any listed abusers in the last 7 days.

The subnet 45.125.65.0/24 has only 1 IP listed in the last 7 days for example.

We will get 45.125.66.0/24 cleaned up just as 45.125.65.0/24 has pretty much already been cleaned up.

Good luck. To get delisted from sdl is extremely hard or even impossible.
