RocketChat/Nextcloud alternatives that don't suck?

Does anyone have suggestions for open source private Chat/CRM-like solutions that aren't trash?
RocketChat now charges per user for Push Notifications, (and it also requires you to connect your private instance to their servers), whilst Nextcloud is just straight up garbage, so what are the other options?
I'm looking for a genuinely private chat server, (with incoming/outgoing webhooks), and a shared Productivity solution for a small team, (calendar, notes/tasks etc).
Any and all sensible suggestions welcomed 😎

I am using Matter most from last 2 years for the team of approx. 10 .
It works very well on buyvm 1G instance + 250Gb slab.
I don't think there are non-garbage solutions to this problem.
You can try Matrix for chat.
Tor has a recently updated software called onionshare which lets you chat, host a website, and share files all in the app on any platform over tor and locally hosted . But that is not exactly what you asked but maybe an option to combine in with another solution.
Looks good, I'll definitely give it a shot: https://mattermost.com/
Thanks for the suggestion. I've found this Matrix-based solution which looks promising. Apparently it's being used by various Western governments/militaries so it must be battle tested: https://element.io/
Very interesting. This scenario is for a trusted network of peers, but I have other use cases for untrusted peers where this would be perfect 👍
There's also XMPP, which is, compared to Matrix, a bit basic, but has been around for longer. It has encryption support too. Matrix is pretty good, but one thing I would be careful with Matrix is that its decryption is a bit dodgy. Not that it's insecure, but you occasionally end up with "Unable to decrypt" error messages in chat, and it can be somewhat annoying to troubleshoot. Make sure you back up decryption materials.
The onionshare codebase is not great. Would probably recommend something else to be honest.
I tried it a few years ago and the push notifications on iOS were hit or miss. Are you finding mobile notifications reliable on the free version?
My company uses Mattermost. Its quite slow unless you're hosting it locally.
Using email with Deltachat? https://delta.chat/ or maybe some Nostr[1] app like https://0xchat.com/

owncloud /s
Tailchat + seafile Very quick combination
We use Mattermost self-hosted and have for a little over 2 years. It works really well.
Never seen Tailchat before, but it looks a lot like Mattermost.
Has anyone used both and can verify if there are any differences?
we use mattermost with gitlab integration so single sign on for both, works very well.
notifications i never observed but overall its a good product.
