VPS services in Thailand
I would have thought, since HDs are made in Thailand, that there'd be a lot of VPS companies. A brief search here doesn't show much. Anyone know why? With all the lights in BKK they clearly have power. Is it an issue with broader internet connectivity? Can anyone recommend and Thai CO's, or others with Thai locations?

With all the cocoa produced in the Ivory Coast you'd expect all M&Ms and Toblerone factories to be there... makes a lot of sense right. But they import all packaged chocolate bars instead.
Its not a lack of power, its mainly a connectivity cost and carrier options from what I understand. SEA can be quite expensive in that regard.
I can recommend ReadyIDC for monthly/yearly VPS and Inspace Cloud for hourly billing VPS. They are the same company. For around $4/month (150 THB), you can get a 2GB RAM 1CPU 30GB SSD VPS in Bangkok. Keep in mind that the port speed on their sites is domestic connection in Thailand. It's slower for international connectivity.
You may have to provide your passport for KYC if you're a foreigner. Thai customers have to send in a scan of their ID cards to activate the services. It's the Thai law. But I'm not sure if Inspace Cloud needs any KYC.

lightnode do have thailand base vps, you might want to check on their website
For ReadyIDC -> Thai customer does not need to send any card or anything; they will open the chat and ask you which operating system you want to install, and they will install it for you.
I really don't recommend servers in Thailand if you need a lot of inter bandwidth. It's pretty bad. A lot of people here just abuse their isp at home for inter bandwidth.
They did ask me for a scan of my ID card in order to activate a VPS last year. Many Thai hosting providers do.

I guess it's only for foreigners. They rarely enforce that on Thai people.
