No argument, but most are sold out and many use them as CDN, download mirrors, DNS servers, etc. with our 1 Gbps unmetered offering.

I always try to remind people that if you can't see a use case for something, it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

True, it's a 14 year old chip doesn't make sense to put in a DataCenter maybe use it at home.

A data center offers certain connectivity and availability that isn't available at home. This has no correlation with the hardware you choose. The Atom isn't powerful, but has its use cases in a data center environment.

If somebody is willing to pay for an Atom in a datacenter, why not? There's no reason to put something away just because it is older technology.

That's also true, but still 14 years chip is quite old

I can say I have several Atom's as download mirrors, and with Caddy as the webserver, it is screaming along.

One of my potatoes with bench test.

While yes 14 year old chips, they do have a place still. Just remember backups!

This, combined with true 1G unmetered, it's a pretty sweet deal if it meets your use case.

There's no need to knock something if you can't understand its place in the market.

curious who offers so much money for such configurations, not even the unmetered band justifies the amount.

Would be nice if they could be upgraded to Intel's new cheap mini 6 watt N100 machines with all the new upgrades that comes with making a 15 year + architecture jump in both the CPU and igpu. I think it would even be worth another + $5 in price jump.

Would be cool. The N100/N200 chips are sweet.

Yes - @DataIdeas-Josh got some mini ryzen PCs and I think they do good for him. I would be interested in more mini PC offers in the NA market.

I know you can get these barebone for sub $100 if ordering in bulk. I know you can get them barebone at $99 on sell around holidays too without ordering in bulk - I got mine with 8gb of ram and 256gb nvme and a valid windows home license for $120-130. Literally costs the same as a windows license if you buying it legally 😭

    Did yours include IPMI too?

  • @MrRadic said: Did yours include IPMI too?

Nah it does not have ipmi - you could add it since it has a PCIe slot, but by default no - I still think there is a market for people who like these budget Ryzen and Intel mini PCs that don't care about IPMI and stuff and are fine with a stock Ubuntu/Debian installation image. Idk I just think they are cool.

Josh might be the guy for that market. IPMI is essential, and the PCIe addon cards have very limited functionality compared to a native board.

There are other issues, but realistically it's not worth getting into. We won't offer these.

Is there a low-cost server for NVMe in Los Angeles?
I don't need that much bandwidth and CPU, we just need to install MySQL
