Looking for small machine for Plex (Central EU, 2TB storage and Quicksync)
I need a VM or Dedi (I guess for QuickSync I need dedi?) for a private, single user Plex instance.
- Intel QuickSync or some alternative usable by Plex transcoder
- 2 TB+ storage, network storage is also OK as long as it is natively mounted (don't want FTP share!)
- 4GB RAM is enough, could use 8GB
- Location: DE or next to DE (e.g., NL, FR), no RO please.
- Don't care about bandwidth, even 100mbps is enough.
- 2 core+ CPU, old CPU or desktop CPU is fine, no Atom though.
Budget: up to 20EUR (sorry cant go more)
I'm currenly paying around 10EUR for a 2TB/2 core/500mbps VM with OneProvider. Working fine except it has no Quicksync and the frequent downtime are becoming unbearable.
Kimsufi KS-4 would be perfect, if only it ever goes in stock. So KS-4 transfer offer is welcomed too.

cheapest that I could find that’s still in stock is this from @PulsedMedia: https://pulsedmedia.com/clients/cart.php?a=confproduct&i=2 — 6 euros over your budget though
Which one? Their dedi with 2TB is 28 EUR, and indeed it is out of my budget
2TB NVMe Dedicated @ 20€ ... You'll have to wait for a long time or snatch that insanely good deal @ 23.25€
See: https://pulsedmedia.com/minidedi-dedicated-servers-finland.php
This is kinda sickeningly low pricing for the node imho
For 3 years it's only 19.76€ which is less than 20€.
If I'm not mistaking, there was a finnish provider offering that not too long ago as part of a sale.
Actually I don't need NVME at all, 2TB HDD is perfectly fine, which is what I'm currently paying for around 10EUR.
As for dedi, that is because I want to use QuickSync. If there there is no such thing for under 20 EUR then I can go back to normal VM without quicksync.. And wait for the elusive KS4. 😉
Also.. Thanks for the offer, those are located in Finland, so location doesn't exactly fit. However, price could work if I pay long term.
Maybe worth trying.. Is there test IP and 1000mb.bin file for Http download?
With your budget Kimsufi is only option, cos of QuickSync. Everything else will be higher than 20 EUR/m.
Indeed, I can live without quicksync, tbh and with that I don't need to open any requests thread 😆
I wonder if KS-4 will ever be back in stock.
@PulsedMedia offer seems to be the closest thing to reality, I just want to check latency and speed first. 🙂
Dayum, missed by 5 days...
