Have any good deals been popping up on Netcup?

Here you should see the easter offers, compared to the normal offers:
    https://bitti09.github.io/nceaster/

    Where are the regular prices?

  • These deals are quite bad.
The eggcelent webhosting is among the worse. Just Google for Netcup eiwomisau which is cheaper (even the regular non discounted one) and offers 20x .de and it should be still freely available.

Isn't .de domain names a pretty sweet price under the current sale?

I'm surprised that Webhosting EiWoMiSau is still available for 5,19€/m, but EiWoMiSau was even cheaper back in 2022, when it cost 4,76€/m

The reality is that things/offers change with time, and they don't always become cheaper

Although Webhosting Eggcellent (for 6,20€/m) includes only 12 .de domains (as opposed to the 20 .de domains of EiWoMiSau), Eggcellent includes more storage space: 2 x 500 GB as opposed to 2 x 250 GB of EiWoMiSau

On the whole, the current netcup Easter offers are consistent with their special offers over the past 12 months, so no big surprises in this respect

I also think deals still quite good compared to days without the sale B)

    Yes, its usually around 4-10€/Year

Yeah, but their deals these last two years aren't as good as what they did in the past, compared to their "normal" price.

That's probably because they now have more cheap offers than before (with the pico/nano VPSes + ARM stuff). To me it seems that it's not that interesting to wait for a special, but it doesn't hurt as more NVMe or cores can be useful for some people, and if you intend to keep the VPS/RS for a long time the savings can be interesting.

Right, the difference between their regular pricing and their promotional pricing isn't as dramatic as it used to be

Also, netcup now have promotions at the end of every month, whereas they used to have promotions only three times a year (BF, Advent, Easter)

Yeah. I also noticed that their deals focus on bigger machines (more interesting for them if these VPS idle / resources are under-used), it's rare to find good deals on smallers VMs. This year, the "VPS 500 G10s" special ain't that interesting. In the past they'd have doubled the RAM + storage or something similar...

No clue who or what requires such big storage for "only" 12 domains (+12 external). Not to mention I wouldn't use Netcup included mail service for anything production related. You receive lots of spam and outgoing mails tend to get flagged more and more as spam over the past years.

~8 years ago you could actually get de domains for 1€ and slightly less. These days Netcup is still quite competitive with de domains (1.68€/yr +2€ setup during promotion) while most registrars increased pricing due to increased denic costs. The biggest downside going with Netcup (or at least their promotions) is that those domains are tied to your private account where you cannot set different handles for different domains. You would need a reseller account. There are however multiple registrars offering de domains starting at roughly 2.50€/yr (very few even offer under 2€ but that usually requires a contract and specific service agreement with minimum number of domains) and ranging up to 5/6€/yr. Some of these companies just aren't as well known outside of Germany but actually very long on the market.
Some that also offer de domains and are active/well known on Let
@Avoro (dataforest / php friends) offers them for 4.49€/yr
Hetzner offers them for 3.90€/yr (+2€ setup) through Robot
    Dashserv 3.85€/yr
    Ip-projects 5€/yr

I might open a dedicated thread to list all other I know. All prices mentioned here include 19% vat btw

    Recently even only 1.56€/year (0.13€/month)

Offtopic: I think that the correct username is now @dataforest as Avoro was .

Oh yeah just saw that. The regular promotion price over past years was 1.68 so 12 cents cheaper this time

Another downside is that if your domain is already registered for several years and you transfer it to them they'll bill you each year. Of course there isn't this problem if the domain is newly registered with them.

I'd love to know which provider charge 2€ or less (including renewals) or even 2.50€/yr.

    https://www.tecspace.de/domain-endungen/de-domain
    sub 10 domains 5€. more than 10 domains 2.50€
there are often promos (usually transfer in)

    https://www.planethoster.com/en/Domain-Names
    2.99€

    https://site.de/de-domain-kaufen
2.99€ renewal however registration and transfer in are 1.99€ so you could just move it around if you want to save 1€ for few minutes of work

    https://www.domainssaubillig.de/
    2.76€ + 1.99€ setup

    https://www.febas.de/domains/
    3.38€

    https://www.inwx.de/de/de-domain
4.65€ official price however you can get a lower price by contacting them (don't know if they still do tho)

    https://www.hosting.de/domains/
    3.90€ renewal

    https://www.domainers.de/
    2.49€ + 1€ setup (no vat tho so 2.96€ + 1.19€)

If you look for 2€ or less you should have some big portfolio 100+ de domains.
Do note tho that not all sites might accept non german customers and you might need a trustee service.
Some of the registrars have quite decent api integration such as inwx or very good customer service such as domainers.

Perhaps I'm not a typical user, but my experience with netcup's mail service has been positive. I rarely receive spam, and as far as I can determine, my emails are received by other parties

Personally, I wouldn't bother with netcup's webhosting if I didn't want to use netcup's mail service

I manage the webhosting package for a relative. They wanted something cheap and simple. At some point spam was piling up like sand at the beach and ironically some legit mail was instead flagged as spam by Netcup. Then more and more outgoing mails were flagged as spam by other providers. Since then a cheap Ms365 business subscription is delivering mails with no issues and the spam filter is awesome.

Few years ago when I still had a vps with Netcup I also noticed arising issues with mail delivery. Since then I transitioned to a hoster that isn't well known outside of Germany but got some big clients. Never had any issues ever since. I am also using mxroute occasionally.

It seems it's a hit or miss nowadays with Netcups ips. On one hand I hear similar issues I encountered on the hand some people like you seem to not have any issues at all 😅

But sure if you are after more space for webhosting + mails (tho 500gb Mails is something for a private person / small company) then eggcelent seems the better deal than eiwomisau (eierlegende wollmilchsau check out the meaning 😉)

Are .de domains generally the lowest cost of any country code TLD? (Especially in terms of renewal pricing.)

Definitely. The only other cheaper tld I know of are number only xyz for 99 cents but those are often filtered and no cctld.
