Raw storage? Very easy. Hetzner is an obvious recommendation.
hetzner is at 10usd per TB on dedicated
Check out their server auctions. Additional 16tb costs 20.50€/mo

if I get 3 disks, can I expect better IO than with hetzner storage box? currently I am facing issue of remote directory ls taking a lot of time because I have 3.5M files in same directory.
also do the disks act as a single volume?
What about a storage VPS server? RAID50/RAID60. We scale at 5EUR per 1TB, I can offer some discount for bigger servers.
Also, I can do 4x 6TB in a dedicated server with hardware RAID.
Alex
Hi,
i have no idea what IO performance is to be found at hetzner and i do not know what protocol you use for this "remote directory" but 3.5M files will be for any filesystem -- including a local one at your home -- no fun if you dont have it on SSD or NVMe drives.
So i can not answer this question.
As to the disks: You will receive 3 independent disks. They do not act as one volume.
Its 3 independent disks with 3 independent IO resourcelimits. Its like you are ordering physical disks with X IO Bandwidth/IOPS limit.
So that means instead of ordering 1x 2 TB disk, you will gain more if you order 2x 1 TB and configure them as Raid 0.
Around end of next week i could give you a testing account for free, so you could do some benchmarks and check for the differences.
Testing right now makes not too much sense, performance sux currently, need to change/extend resources first.
@host_c?
@COLBYLICIOUS THX!
@protocols I know you asked for a dedi, but if you can accept a VPS, we can have can make a nice offer for you.
DM me if interested.
