[Request] 6TB monthly inbound traffic for less than $16/year, any location

edited March 17 in Requests

Hi, I'm looking for:

  • 6TB monthly ingress
  • 100GB monthly egress
  • 90mbps connection
  • 0.5GB RAM
  • SSD: 10GB would be okay, 20GB would be nice, 30GB would be great
  • Location doesn't matter
  • CPU doesn't matter

For less than $16 a year - willing to pay up to 3 years upfront for a reputable provider.

So far I am using these but I want more for redundancy:

  • GCP (free instance, free ingress, 100GB egress)
  • Oracle (free instance, free ingress, 10TB egress)
  • Netcup VPS Piko (1 euro per month, throttles to 100mbits)
  • Racknerd 4TB offer (I asked to double my bandwidth, still waiting for a response)

Are there any other offers like those listed above?

I am going to be using this for personal file backups. I am generating files at an irregular rate. Once disk is full I will delete the oldest files.

6TB is the maximum limit, I will almost certainly not be using even half of that and probably not even a quarter of that. But I want to not have to worry about running out of bandwidth.

Location doesn't matter.

Thanks a lot!

    Hi,

    just curious:

    8 TB / 30 days = 266 GB each day.

You request a 10 GB disk, maybe 20, maybe 30 GB disk.

So your plan is to write every day 26x times - 9x times your whole disk.

That means that with 10GB you will write every less than 1h, the whole disk newly.

That means that with 30 GB you will write every less than 3h, the whole disk newly.

If i am allowed to ask: What use case is this?

It's obviously a reverse proxy. What else would use only 500MB of RAM?

What exactly is a reverse proxy and why would I want one? Genuinely curious.

Do they offer VPS? I looked at their website and it seems they only offer shared hosting.

EDIT: I've redone my calculations and found that actually 16mbps is the maximum rate at which I can produce the files (2 megabytes per second = 16 megabits per second which is around 5.5TB per month). Of course, the files are produced infrequently and so average usage will probably be less than a quarter of that.

  • If your storage usage 10 or so GB, why not just use Cloudflare R2 or other object storage?

ColoCrossing appears to still be offering their Valentine's Day special: https://cloud.colocrossing.com/index.php?rp=/store/specials

    20GB storage on 20TB transfer.

    20GB storage on 20TB transfer.

I may be making a lot of file transfers - the files are quite small and the rate of generation may exceed one file per second. In the worst case (that will never happen but theoretically) I may exceed the Cloudflare R2's 1 million requests per month limit.

Thanks for the ColoCrossing offer! I did not find it before! Are they a reputable provider?

    Hi,

IF IPv6 only is enough for you then:

    https://layer7.net/cloud-server

    -> Dusseldorf Location

Unfortunately I do need ipv4 since my ISP does not support ipv6 :( But thank you for the offer.

    Thanks for the response!

And that is quite an attractive offer, if only it had a little bit more SSD and traffic...

Also, has anyone used Layer UAE? I can't find much reviews about them.

They are the bare metal for RackNerd so if you are ok with them then you should be fine with ColoCrossing.

Haven't heard any negative reviews about them, @rsk is the guy behind Layer. He's pretty active here. Maybe if you ask nicely, he'll be able to propose something which works for the both of you.
