Free Object Storage like B2, S3, R2, any more suggestion?

Hi,

Do you know any free (or free tier) object storage providers like B2, S3, R2 that offer simple access to my publicly uploaded files from browser.
Example: https://f002.backblazeb2.com/myBucket/myfile.html or .png

I'm already aware of Google storage (via firebase), IBM storage, and Oracle free tier.
But are there any more service providers?
I don't require TBs of space, just anything between 1 GB to 10 GB is also fine.

Comments

  • Have you tried iDrive e2? they offer 10gb for free

  • No idea about other S3 alternatives besides what have been mentioned. What about bunny.net storage? You can upload files via browser and FTP, but it's just not S3.

Mega.nz - it is beta right now, for free.

No idea if their few GBs free normal offering will carry over to their objectstorage when it comes out of beta though.

Storj is pretty good, I use them for one of my file hosting services and I haven't had any issues so far. Their network is made up of many nodes that are located all over the world and files are stored in parts which results in faster load times globally while keeping costs low. If you are not pulling files directly from the bucket then it probably isn't the best solution in terms of speeds but for things such as image hosting, it is not bad at all.

Their free tier offers a generous 25gb free and then $0.004/gb after that. Unlike Cloudflare and some other providers, they do have egress fees after you reach 25gb of egress bandwidth so it may not be a good option if you are hosting a lot of big files that are frequently accessed.

I'm pretty sure they don't want new testers though. I tried to register but just got a broken link.

  • I've recommend it here before, but I am a big fan of IDrive e2. No egress, performance is fast, it's very cheap at $4 per TB per month, and they offer discounts on yearly plans as well as 10GB free to start.

Someone should write an API that gives you 1TB of free object storage but behind the scenes it's stored on 10GB free tier accounts from multiple providers.

People have already started companies reselling storage from Discord and Telegram free tiers

If one would do such a thing why not directly go all the way, encode the data as blocks, add a TGA header or whatever and store the whole thing on Google Photos Shutterfly or Amazon Photos (with Prime) ;)

I have had an account there since last year, free 150gb storage & 150gb bandwidth, equivalent to $1.65/m free.
So far I have 200 GB of storage for backup, and I haven't paid a single penny

  • thanks for recommendations :)
I'll try Storj.io first, then the rest including Shadow, and Azure.

Multiple accounts combined as raid 10 to ensure data integrity even after ban

Looks like Tebi gives you 50GB of total space, but you choose to have 2+ copies on their distributed servers. So a max of 25GB of your data. Interesting option I hadn't heard of before your post.
