Gatekeepers: AI vs Humans

If, in a (not so) hypothetical situation where (most of) the whole world goes completely on grid and AI were to ever go rogue, would Programmers, SysAdmins & Hardware enginners be at the forefront resisting and fighting back?

Also, what would be the role of social leeches like the Politicians, Billionaires, Bureaucrats, etc. be in such a situation?

To make sure ‘Programmers, SysAdmins & Hardware engineers’ work their ass off to bring things back to normal.

"Politicians, Billionaires, Bureaucrats" would be the first people to go into their multi-million dollar bunkers. Only when on the ground engineers unplug the rogue AI will they come out to claim the credit for saving the world.

No, soldiers would with EMP devices and heavy weapons if we assume that these fucks (The AI) could move in physical world among us and/or shoot projectiles. Technicians would follow as field specialists at best.

Coders would be useless in field since the machines would use compiled code and its not like you could just "tap into them". Surely theyre isolated units or otherwise in another VLAN from control. At best it'd be like opening game process in Ollydbg or x64debug and asking the dude to debug it immediately on the spot to confuse it in specific way or to cause it to crash in controlled way while the lines are jumping as the process is "live". At worst you cant even find compatible interface on it's body to connect with your on hands equipment.

It depends if your situation is like the Terminator with Skynet or Matrix with the Machine Control and virtual world.

Bureaucrats and politicians would be needed to gather people around them to form resemblance of society and order if the group is large enough, plus I'd be more ease with capable senior leadership at tactical level directing our efforts than hastily elected insecure looking resistance head. Plus most people like legitmacy.

Billionaires would be useless outside on hand supplies which they might have nearby or confidential info. Outside those, only their personal skillset would matter.

If it ever goes to that, the best bet is to trash it physically. Its still electronics in the end and would have no weak or strong parts like human. All of its parts would have "lethal" consequences for itself if they stopped working. If its built modular/redundant instead of as one large complete entity, then its game over.

Good old cord-pulling would be the best option here.

Programmers, SysAdmins & Hardware enginners ... don't produce or deliver food, water, electricity, etc. Not directly.
There's needed much more so that those Programmers, SysAdmins & Hardware enginners... would be able to survive, come to work and do their job. Oh, and don't forget a cleaning lady!

Nothing and no one will go rogue against ${SUBJECT} until ${SUBJECT}'s existence will no longer be required!

Until you work and pay your taxes and are complacent enough with the ecosystem, you'll be kept as a useful pet, as a conditioned lover of western democracy and western freedom!

Buuuu Putin, it's all his fault, buuuu.
You see? Good job, now WORK! You'll gain magical €uro points!

    Did you know that....
    1. when you buy a banana, 91% of it's price in euros is made of taxes, and the EU import license costs 5 million euros? (... imagine if I were permitted to import bananas, how crazy the price would drop with some competition!)
    2. when you fill your car tank, 100% if the gas price is propped by political economy with no basis on its real market value?
    3. when you pay your house heating bills, 40% if the cost is import duties and VAT, another ~50% is income tax, and some more are mineral license costs?

Beautiful magical €uro points! We are indeed useful as long as we WORK!

Oh my god I must be a crazy imbecille. +1 if you agree that I'm a crazy imbecille! :)

To more properly answer your question, if the AI goes rogue, we can just ask the Russians to cut the methane flow to Europe, all power plants from Estonia to Morocco will go into blackout.

Yeh exactly! You are a good one, I trust you and I vote for you! @aakashmishra007 for president!

Where do I put my vote now?!

@aakashmishra007, as a prez candidate, what's your take on the question of America withdrawing from NATO? Should we print more dollars to stimulate the economy? We are all in your hands!

If the fool keeps looking at the finger when the wise man points at the moon, the wise man eventually finds a more practical and stimulating use for his finger. Ouch.

There is this guy who read George Orwell's Animal Farm and did't see anything in it but a stupid fable about pigs in a farm. That wise finger must have gone crazy in his ass. We all deserve to be whatever crap we happen to be.

Yeah, as much as i like crazy theorizing the initial question (why the fuck would said professions have better abilities at unplugging/destroying machines than anyone else has? Besides i think at least Africa would want to have a word in regards to everyone being on the grid...) and the tendentious/random second part in combination with the (sadly) predictable level of contributions is pretty much bound to make the thread into a shitfest...

    Yup, second part ruined it.

I guess OP thought a simple AI apocalypse scenario would be too similar to the zombie apocalypse scenario we all know and love ;)

Isn't it a lovely situation when everybody considers the next of kin an utter imbecille, and the next of kin reciprocates the inclination? It happens all the time :)
