bakker-it.eu VPS review

There is not much information available online when searching for this provider. Got this VPS from Provider Poll 2023 Prize.

  • The homepage https://www.bakker-it.eu/ does not list any VPS plans but the user panel (clients.bakker-it.eu) lists them.
  • Available Plans: https://clients.bakker-it.eu/index.php?rp=/store/virtual-machines-meppel
  • Support Ticket response speeds are on the slower side. Expect 12-24 hours due to timezone differences.

  • There is no option in the user panel to start/stop/reboot/reinstall image. They use Proxmox on their hypervisors. If you want to, you can request to create a user for you to manage your VM that way. They do not use VirtFusion or SolusVM or alike since they have had bad experiences with multiple of those panels.

Billing:

  • Plans automatically renews unless you cancel at least 14 days in advance.
  • Cancellations take effect immediately, so you cannot cancel immediately, you have to do this near the renewal date.

Wait, so there is no way to use the service for the full time it has been paid for?

Maybe @RickBakkr can elaborate on this.

it's like leasing a lamborghini for 4 weeks but only being allowed to drive it for 2 weeks and then having to hand it in again.

Thank you for the benchmark. I think you were delivered on one of the older E5 nodes. We have a growing number of AMD EPYC based nodes that mean to replace the E5 fleet. Expect performance jumps in coming months :-)

This policy is only in place for “free” or trial services. In the past, we gave these services and found people to instantly cancel after the free or trial period. We give these services with the incentive of the customer some day coming back. We do not see those immmediately cancelling as customers who intend to stay with us for the long run.

For all others, we accept a “end of billing period” cancellation, as long as its 14 days before renewal.

And, that being said, we are always flexible, even when our TOS does not permit the means… In short: don’t worry, as long as we can get into talks, we will work out any way.

    I can recommend Bakker IT (@RickBakkr). :+1:
    Positive experience so far. :)
One of the few providers where I actually wanted to buy a bigger/more expensive plan after getting the lower-priced deal.

Thank you for the kind words. We have a clear vision in mind as to how we intend to do business, and I am glad to hear more and more customers appreciate it.

We do not support payment through Crypto, nor through PayPal. We do support SEPA, Bank Transfer, Credit Card and a lot of regional payment methods, mostly used in Europe.

However, if payment is holding you back to order, simply reach out. We are there to find options together :-)

@RickBakkr How about inexpensive, but nice dedicated servers? For example, E3-1275v5, E-2276G, 64 or 128 GB ECC, 2 x NVMe? With friendly support for less commonly used OSes, for example *BSD, Alpine, OpenIndiana, 9front? Are dedis like VPSes, you can do them, but they're not on your landing page? :)

  • I've known Rick for a long time now and he provides a great service. One of the best providers on this website.

Sure thing! We can do a lot of things, though these are usually custom solutions with custom price tags respectively. If you are interested in such server, please do reach out and we’ll make it work.

    Old E5?

  • What's up with the Recv speed? Seems slow compared to Send.

  • I use Bakker IT and have had no issues. I have a service I probably will never cancel lmao.

Please try different iperf endpoints, or share traceroute from both sides in case of issues

YABS is a synthetic test and may not represent the real world performance. Especially given that YABS uses predefined iPerf endpoints which are used by other YABS users simultaneously. network-speed.xyz may be more precise in that matter.
