Looking for Dedi with powerful CPU

I'm running an AI training software that run on CPU unfortunately and is coded in Java, so it needs some RAM as well.

CPU: As good as it gets
RAM: 32-64GB
Storage: At least 120GB SSD
Network/Location: Don't care, its all local. 10mbps would be fine.
Should be able to install Windows.

I've checked the Hetzner and Contabo Ryzen servers until now, looking for something cheaper, I understand outcompeting those 2 is not easy. Till now Ryzen 7 7700/7900 look to have a good price/performance ratio.

I'd be getting around 5-10 of these depending on the price, for 1 to 2 months.

Hetzner EX44 has even better price/performance ratio

    EX44 Geekbench 6, Ubuntu 22.04:
    2756 Single Core, 12363 Multicore
    for just €39.00/mo

    AX102 Geekbench 6 Ubuntu 22.04
    2942 Single Core, 17839 Multicore
    for €104.00/mo !!!

but right now they have setup fees on these (on Ryzen 7 7700/7950X3D too).
I've got one EX44 on cyber monday, there was no setup fees promo then.

I've made video on EX44 that has a lot of benchmarks, maybe you will find some results interesting for your usecase. I also compare it to AX102 and AX41.

  • Thank you for the suggestion @AXYZE , however I have no idea if the scheduler will deal properly with the E and P cores. But I'll be an option for sure.

It's not going to get cheaper than Hetzner, that's bottom low already.

@AXYZE It really sucks that it's so limited in drive selection

Let's say I want the EX44 with NVMe

I'd like 128 GB RAM, it's just €17 extra. All good, €56 total

At that point, 512 GB disk isn't enough, I want 1 TB at least. And two of course, for RAID

But I can't have more than 3 NVMe's, and I can't remove the default ones, so I'd have to keep paying for the default ones (2x 512), and then add 2 x 960 GB NVMe SSD Datacenter Edition

    Now it's €88

    Compared to the AX102 with:
    AMD Ryzen™ 9 7950X3D
    128 GB DDR5 ECC
    2 x 1.92 TB (Gen 4)

    For €104

Honestly, €88 still isn't that much for a dedi like the EX44, but it sucks that the value so quickly diminishes

Check out ReliableSite (aff) - (Non Aff) with @MrRadic. They be able to get you the Ryzen boxes or maybe something else on their site might peak your interest.

10mbps? Are you sure you didn't get 2024 mixed up with 2004?

OP said 10 mbps is fine, and @c1vhosting most likely took that as an opportunity to shave the bandwidth cost off of the monthly price (i.e. pass the savings of not paying for tons of bandwidth back to the customer).

Addons is where Hetzner gets their margin, theres no good value if you need something custom (unless its on auctions, then customized servers with addons can be pretty cheap).

Even not thinking about margins - this completly destroys their automation and standarization. I dont think they could manage to have addons noticeably cheaper.

At least their default configs are usable, not 120GB SSDs as base options like some other providers lol

@AXYZE OVH allows go swap stuff and nog just adding stuff on most of their lines

Sure, Hetzner is cheaper. But not always, they don’t have sales like OVH does
