I’m looking for a dedicated server for Jellyfin.

I am looking for a dedicated server where a Jellyfin server can be operated stress-free for me and my friends. Currently, I am with Hetzner, which is not entirely trouble-free. I am looking for the following specifications: At least 8 CPU cores, 64 GB of RAM, 1 SSD with at least 500 GB capacity, and 6 TB HDD storage.

Currently nothing, but I'm worried about the future because there are currently 6-8 people simultaneously using it, and there's also a Windows installed serving as a download server. I'm not sure how long this will be okay with Hetzner without legal consequences.

  • We have a few servers that'd fit the bill for Jellyfin perfectly.

Depending on how much horsepower you're looking for:

    Intel i5-10500T
    3.8GHz — Quick Sync
    32GB DDR4
    (1) 1TB NVMe
    Unmetered @ 1Gbps
    1 IPv4 + /64 IPv6
    $45/mo

    Intel Xeon E3
    3.9GHz — Quick Sync
    32GB ECC
    (2) 1TB SSD
    Unmetered @ 1Gbps
    1 IPv4 + /64 IPv6
    $65/mo

    Intel i7-12700T
    4.7GHz — Quick Sync
    64GB DDR5
    (1) 2TB NVMe
    Unmetered @ 1Gbps
    1 IPv4 + /64 IPv6
    $75/mo

I think between 40-60€. Two public IPs would also be useful.

The i5 would be sufficient for me, but do you not offer optimal HDD storage, right?

Are you asking if you could purchase additional HDD storage space?

And from your other post question - we can supply additional IP addresses as well.

Yes, additional HDD storage would be interesting, starting from 4TB. Also, upgrading to 64GB RAM would be of interest.

Why don't you install a VPN on your Hetzner machine and run Jellyfin trough Cloudflare Zero Trust Tunnel. Then you have nothing to fear.

Also if you need more storage you can just buy Hetzner Storage boxes and mount them with rclone and download and stream directly from them.

  • Look for Ryzen 3700X in the auction servers it will have enough power for transcoding

Swap to Linux, if you're not comfortable with a terminal, use Linux desktop and follow a tutorial. It's not difficult.

Hetzner doesn't care unless you get a copyright notice, and once you do as long as it's not publicly accessible (i.e. password protected), then again the copyright holder has to prove that you didn't get the content legally or that you've violated their license somehow.
