There is a free version of MSSQL. However if you need more feature you can rent or buy a SQL Server paid version.

For easy management (website + MSSQL / MySQL ...) you can use Plesk for windows ($2/mo for 10 websites)

all our vps are instant install as well as Plesk license.

We do offer 2008, we just don't include a license.

  • @anynode At least stop offering 2003... Do you want a bunch of compromised servers on April 9th? I predict that on April 9th, as soon as MS officially EOLs XP, there will be an armageddon of exploits for XP, and that botnet activity will GREATLY increase.

  • ReeRee Member

Server 2003 does not EOL until July 2015.

I do agree that botnet operators are going to love XP moving to EOL status.

  • Windows 2003 R2 fresh install connected to internet before installing all latest updates could be infected within a few hours.

  • starting in mid febuary we will be offering Windows VPS with windows 2008R2,Windows 2012, starting at $17.99 a month for 1GB Ram 50GB drive space

We do filter NetBIOS and RPC ports by default, however you do present a valid argument. We will consider this again once April arrives, thank you for your concern.

  • It's not just NetBIOS and RPC stuff. It's the (l)users as well. Malware will greatly increase in targeting towards XP. The only people left using it will probably be home users who aren't computer savvy enough to upgrade, or corporate entities insisting upon running mission critical and extremely sensitive databases on an EOL OS LIKE XP (rage!).
