Why ZFS? You don't have ECC RAM and ZFS on consumer disks is not recommended since they don't have power outage protection so ZFS writes (CoW) every single write directly to disk instead of caching to a larger block and then writing.

I have been running ZFS RAID10 on a node for several years and I haven't seen a single error yet.

ZFS doesn't require ECC RAM. DDR5 on-die ECC does offers protection against single-bit errors and our Samsung 990 Pro also has onboard ECC chip on it. I am confident that we will be just fine with running ZFS on the latest DDR5+Samsung 990 Pro.

We are also using arc cache.

@Shakib any idea on when you will have EU offerings?

Also consider starting a new thread for the 7900 sale as the title is still pointing to the 7700.

I've looked through countless offers on LET and HostCram is the only reliable host that offers high performance CPU power.

Thanks. EU expansion might take some time. Probably won't be possible before 2025.

I might try to get a Supermicro MicroCloud 8 node system shipped to the UK sooner if @dann00 or @Clouvider is willing to offer me a good colocation contract.

Yes. The control panel doesn't have a recovery mode.

VNC Console can be used to enter recovery mode. I can also mount a system rescue CD/ISO when requested.

  • Can you send me the test IP please?

    Geekbench 6 Benchmark Test:

    Test | Value

    Multi Core | 15661

My usual 70% burst test can't make the 7900 hotter than 53 degrees.

I am looking at 37 degrees idle temp and 52 degrees geek bench all core test temps.

7900 is a multi core beasts but it will have less single core speed than our 7700 due to 5 GHz boost during 70% load.

Our 7700 should still be your first choice if you're looking for better single core speed.

I am expecting 2000+ GB6 score on Ryzen 7900 and 2500+ GB6 on Ryzen 7700 when they are not idling and actually in use.

It's located in Hawaii? How good is the latency to APAC and Seattle/Los Angeles?

I thought it'd be in Utah since fiberstate's colocation seems to be in Salt Lake City.

IP location is Hawaii right now. It will change to Salt Lake City soon.

Yes. We are in Fiberstate SLC Utah data center.

Ping to Los Angeles is 20.3 ms

I will post a APAC test result soon.

    # Update

We have a Supermicro Mainstream A+ Server AS -1015A-MT and another custom built 2U Ryzen 7900 server coming up next.

Each of those systems cost us around $2000 USD so please consider buying your next Ryzen 7000 VPS from HostCram as we require more funds to buy more new gears. <3

  • @Shakib - can you please take a look at ticket 6916204? Thanks
