Colocation Providers in Japan? Tokyo preferably

MukulWMukulW Member, Host Rep

Hello

Need a 2U colocation in Japan with 30TB bandwidth and 1gbps port.

Comfortable with long term contracts i.e 2/3 Years.

Any Leads?

I get a few of these requests every now and then, so would just like to share some quick knowledge.

Power cost in APAC is crazily different than Europe/US. You are looking at $450-550 per kw in anything that is remotely a datacenter (because there are a lot of "not so datacenters" too, who backhaul network to an actual datacenter closeby). The same thing in the US/EU would cost somewhere between $150-250 per kw.

Then add any bandwidth, human cost, profit margins, etc on top.

For something like a dual E5-2690v2 running at 70% usage, you are looking at ~500-600w average draw. So ~$300 per month in just power cost alone.

Do you know the power draw of your server? A 2U server can draw 100w, and it can draw 800w, so it doesn't really help with helping you with any sort of recommendations.

Hi mate, as @hosthatch said, electricity in the APAC region is more expensive than you think.
The price we have given you is the cost price, which includes the cost of RH. :)

    Yeah
    Just exploring the options

  • Not 100% sure if Path/Tempest are offering Tokyo colocation, but you could try reaching out to them and seeing what they offer. Especially if you are doing a long-term contract, they may be able to help.

  • Many (some?) LET providers uses @xTom for Japan.
