Core Networking Upgrade

host_chost_c Member, Patron Provider

Hy guys, in the upcoming 2 weeks we will conduct various upgrades to our core routing infrastructure. We will also implement a 3'rd backup line.

During this time, in rare occasions you might encounter connectivity time-outs, in the number of seconds at most, this will be due to the update of BGP Routes.

We apologize for the inconvinience.

Complete node's upgrades are also scheduled between 18-DEC-2023 and 21-DEC-2023.
We will get back with the exact date of the 1 our downtime for the node's.

HOST-C.

All this when the auto provisioning of /64 will be fixed, and for the moment, that ball is not in our yard. We will not allocate /64 manually to clients, that is not our business model, either it will work automatically at purchase, or it will not. We will not rush out with a product just to get burned on the stick that it does not work, there are tons of examples on this forum for that, I think one more doesn't have to happen.

This is our official statement, an I have stated this before.

You can wine about us not providing ipv6, @yoursunny can pin us on the so called hall of shame ipv6, we could not care at this point, we have bigger plans for the upcoming months.

For the moment, the planet is routed on IPV4, and it will be for the next decade at least.

We understanf that some of you are in regions where you have access to unfiltered/firewalled ipv6, and that is why some ask for it, in that case, there are plenty of providers here that can offer it for now.

If you really want to see the truth about IPV6, make a pool, with at least 10.000, split in 4 regions, EU, US, Asia, China, ( 2500 users / region ) and ask 3 questions,

Is IPV6 Mandatory, is it a deal beaker for you?

    1 - YES B)
    2- NO :D
3 - Could not care less, nice to have :)

And be onset when you publish the results. I bet my 2 cents that the last 2 of the continents will say yes with over 65%, as they get filtered by their providers/gov agencies and so on, hence the need for ipv6, right? :)

An here is a test on the "lied about not having ipv6"

So @yoursunny lied and they have IPv6!

but not for clients, everything in hands of operator, even more bandwidth for a DDOS! RIP your website yoursunny

  • Does anyone lays down good old optics to upgrade? Switching router to a new one - just an update.

    @Moopah

You asked, here it is, now these are a few months old, and totally out of date, this is the low-end-hosting rack we have there, and we have a few other racks there with other services.

    EDIT:

Pictures were taken during the initial installation, most servers are not even installed when we took these pics. Will do a fresh one once we finish the scheduled upgrades.

    Hy,

So phase 1 completed, SRV maintenance and so on, cabling and stuff.

Phase 2 will be this week, the one with the 1 our downtime, we will announce when in the next 48h.

Hy, on 21-dec-2023 10:00AM to 11:00 AM CET ( Central Europe Time ) we will do the offline upgrades, during this time, all services will be stopped. We will announce when we finished the necessary maintenance.

OK, Maintenance done, we passed the projected downtime as a result of Server Motherboard Firmware Upgrades that went slower than anticipated.

Node upgrades were done 1 by 1, to minimize downtime.

All services are up. Billing platform upgrade will be done next week, but that will not affect running services.

    We thank for your patience.
