Looking for VDS in UK/FR/NL/DE

Hi all

Looking for the most bang for buck dedicated resources somewhere with a reasonable ping to London. No fixed budget per se, but already found a service that seems to offer what I need for 12 EUR/mo (at netcup) so using that as a reference price. If there was a significantly better offering I can flex budget a little to accommodate.

Minimum required specs (but more is always better, especially on the ram/cpu side):
8GB ram
2 dedicated physical cores (or 4 HW threads, however you want to call it)
100GB SSD (ideally nvme)
1 IPv4
250Mbps

Optional - Ideally some backup/snapshot support if possible

Haven't found many options out there and it seems I missed the rush for advin servers which would have probably been a good fit.

Many thanks!

  • NETCUP is the best choice, with an RS1000 annual payment contract of 8.24 euros per month and very stable performance. The ADVIN you mentioned is a personal manufacturer with very unstable performance and is not recommended. Additionally, HZC is also a good choice.

  • Avoro/PHP-Friends are good alternatives to netcup and Hetzner in Germany.

How do you get annual discount on netcup services? it seems to default to monthly with no option to change. Also is HZC Hetzner?

Black Friday. Netcup will do a whole range of discounts although you will have to wait for the deal to come along. See their website for details.

Annual deals on Netcup will be on their .de page. They have a .de/.eu and .com which varies with its monthly/yearly offers.

PHP Friends @PHP_Friends only ever seen deals on their twitter page.

The latest offers from Advin had horrendous routing via Cogent from the UK quite possibly the worst routing I've ever seen from the UK to a server in Germany.

@kuroit is another option in the UK

netcup.DE -> contracts, yearly, debt collectors if not paid, better price
netcup.EU -> monthly, no contracts, no debt collectors, but bigger price.

Same thing, same company, just '.DE' is (mostly) for local/Germans and contracts which are "normal" for them and .EU is for rest of the world that have no idea what contracts are and they are better buying monthly.

could this vds also be broken down a little? let's say to these specifications:
    1 dedicated cores 7950XD
    4 GB DDR5 ECC RAM
    75 GB NVMe Gen4 SSD
    10 TB Bandwidth @10Gbps
    IPv4 and IPv6/64
    Falkenstein, Germany
    €2/month
    @labze

seems fair. compared to this offer:
    hostEONS VDS ($8.99/month)
8GB RAM 2 Ryzen 7950X CPU 100GB NVMe 30TB bandwidth at 10 Gbps (Salt Lake City, Utah)

@ehab @Mumbly where are the price pushers!

all in all, the price seems very reasonable to me. i have calculated all the parameters and then added a discount as no 10Gbps is offered. 😃

  • @hyperblast ... wait for labiza BF offers.
unless he is ready to make a FLASH now.

cheapest offer I have seen with dedicated cpu cores from @Advin
    https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/189832/advin-servers-amd-epyc-genoa-9554-vps-ddr5-ecc-0-50-gb-10-gbit-network-giveaways/p1
    $48 per year

No wonder it got sold out so quickly

Next, in the line would be $4.99 offer from @HostEONS with 1 dedicated core

The cheapest and stable Windows OS based VPS I have is from @labze
$8 per quarter ($6.80 after discount)
The offer was posted by @labze in August

Running for 68+ days with no issues

  • @dev_vps why don't you take that as a basis:

    hostEONS VDS ($8.99/month)
8GB RAM 2 Ryzen 7950X CPU 100GB NVMe 30TB bandwidth at 10 Gbps (Salt Lake City, Utah)

and do the maths... the maths then comes up with the price I calculated above (I am aware that this is very user-friendly and certainly tightly calculated).

not an attack on @labze. i just wanted to support him a little with the calculations from which we could also benefit.

The ip cost is same per month.
The support + connectivity cost is same.
Now add the cost for the remaining parts.

    Do the math.

  • Did the math.
    my calculation is serious.

    Windows Server 2019 Standard

AMD Ryzen 9 / 7950X3D has 16 CPU cores (32 thread). That means maximum you can have 32 VDS (as each vds has one dedicated core thread).

    2 euro for each vds
Max 64 euros for each host server

Leave alone IP cost, support cost, connectivity cost aside, check where you can get physical server for 64 euros so that it is break even.

You are getting C minus in Maths calculation from me.
