Either option works well for cPanel servers. It's really about whichever distro you personally prefer. My vote goes towards Rocky at this point as they've got some fantastic people behind the project.
It doesn’t really matter, they are actually very similar and nearly identical the only difference is the teams behind it alma is supported by cloud Linux team so thats a plus for me
AlmaLinux 9

Ubuntu for me!
Actually it's almalinux, who has fantastic people running their board - see https://lowendtalk.com/discussion/comment/3289217/#Comment_3289217 and below
And that is why my vote also goes for Rocky
You using Ubuntu 22.04?
almalinux are great one
like centos
easy to manage
btw you need to check your cockpit enable or not if you install almalinux it for your safety
I have tried Ubuntu 18. I think that cpanel is not yet compatible with 22.
For me, the poll should be Ubuntu or Cloudlinux.
We prefer AlmaLinux, but as mentioned before, they are nearly identical, and you will not feel many differences between them.
I would definitely prefer Alma Linux 8 as I have already used it with cPanel.
I prefer AlmaLinux 9. Not sure about cPanel, but my ispmanager server works fine with it.
Both are decent. I wish Ubuntu got a bit more love however.
Ubuntu 18 is very old (end of standard support), cPanel aren't serious about Ubuntu support so didn't include it. CloudLinux is a paid OS, the idea was to find a good CentOS replacement (free).
