Faster disk? Lol. That disk ain't slow. Does the application you run need more throughput? Because that's all it is at the end of the day just like bandwidth. Is 1 Gbps slow? Why not get 10 Gbps, 40 Gbps or 100 Gbps? 100 Gbps is faster than 40 Gbps so I would say that 40 Gbps is slow :P

    good enough for wordpress right

Yes. If you're only reading a 30KB cached html file when someone visits your website more throughput on disk / bandwidth won't do any difference. Check iotop and iftop to figure out if you're hitting any limits.

I go for higher numbers obviously

And mentioned vps shows much higher disk speeds

But why? What's the point? You won't notice ANY difference except for benchmark output. All the big clouds such as AWS, Azure, GCP will give you around 100 MB/s disk IO and your wordpress website will be just as fast on there

  • In my experience better hardware limited resources combined with well configured web server + cache gives faster results and they can be measured too with scripts

True, hosting a site on AWS, getting average 150~ms TTFB around the globe with proper caching setup!
